mooby 09-28-2005, 11:29 PM man, by the time mcnabb plays us, he'll be so beaten up by other defenses, i expect gregg williams to throw the house at him. i feel bad that he's injured, cuz if we beat them and he was healthy they wouldn't have an excuse, but at the same time, i feel we need to take advantage of this. when's our first game vs. the eagles?
12thMan 09-29-2005, 07:44 AM Even if McNabb is hurt and not 100% at the time, the Eagles will still be tough. I think they are good for at least 9 games this year no matter what.
All divisional games are tough, regardless of who's in the lineup or not. Divisional teams just know each other so well....besides you can never discount what injuries we may have at the time that could affect us.
McNabb is a tough SOB, he'll play through the pain and continue to play well in my opinion. They said it's not the type of injury that will get worse but the pain will be the main issue.
All I know is if McNabb goes down my fantasy season is down the crapper. :(
illdefined 09-29-2005, 08:28 AM aw thats what you get for picking a division rival!
I know that I am often chided here for being pessimistic; I prefer to believe I am realistic, but that's a debate for another time.
I am now going to go at warp speed into "Unbridled Optimism Mode": The NFC Eastern Division championship is up for grabs as of this date. Let me explain why...
I watched the Eagles on TV in each of the first two weeks because that was the game on the Washington TV stations. Last weekend - courtesy of tix owned by "The Client From Hell" - I watched the Eagles beat the Raiders from a VERY plush luxury suite in Lincoln Financial Field. Ladies and gentlemen, Donovan McNabb's injury - no matter what it actually is - has reduced his effectiveness as a QB and that makes the Eagles vulnerable.
Prior to the season and before the war of attrition that is the NFL season began, I did not see a way for the Eagles to lose the NFC East. But the NFL is a league where injuries and missed games are critical factors for teams and Donovan McNabb is not replaceable on the Eagles for a long stretch of games. So, he'll play on, but his effectiveness is severely diminished. I had glasses on him most of the plays last weekend and he was less than ordinary as a QB; he was almost dismal.
The NFC East is back in play. I still don't believe in the Giants; I think their early victories are a mirage. But the Cowboys and/or the Redskins can step out and make a serious run at the NFC East title. The Eagles are not dead and buried; they still have a fine defense and an outstanding running back and WR to make the offense work. But their QB and offensive leader is hurt and it is not a trivial injury.
So, when the Eagles lose on the road this weekend in KC, that will give them 2 losses already. When the Skins eke out a win over the Seahawks, that will put them "two-up" in the loss column. What they need to do then is keep riding that momentum...
Good post, but.......................something is definately wrong in whooooville?????
Sheriff Gonna Getcha 09-29-2005, 09:06 AM I still think the Eagles are going to be tough to beat. When McNabb went down two years ago, the team did quite well for itself. Moreover, I don't think McNabb's injury is so serious that it will severely hamper him throughout the season.
I am unsure what to think about the Giants. I definately feel that they are beatable, but Manning looks like a much better quarterback than he did last season.
The Cowboys look better than most would have expected, but, obviously, they are beatable.
The NFC East may indeed be up for grabs, but I think the Eagles will likely snatch the title once again. :(

i feel the same way. it's a little more open this year though than the past few for sure.
