Jets In The Market For Qb! (MEGA MERGE)Sheriff Gonna Getcha 09-27-2005, 12:07 AM Let's just all grab a beer and hug. :) SUNRA 09-27-2005, 12:10 AM Let's just all grab a beer and hug. :) Exactly. DirtBagZ 09-27-2005, 12:25 AM Nothing personal but I think a bunch of you guys are getting carried away here. I don't see Ramsey going anywhere until the off-season at the earliest. Gibbs is paranoid about the QB position as it is, why would he trade Ramsey now? Remember Gibbs flip-flopped Shroeder and Williams back and forth to the point that they hated each other. Why can't that scenario unfold here (without the hating part)? I think part of the reason Gibbs pulled PR so early was to give him a wake-up call and fire him up in anticipation of a return later this season. I mean if Brunnell goes down or sucks it up bad, even for a half, Ramsey could be right back in there. Do you think he'd be motivated? Think he'd throw a stupid pick on the 1st series? While Gibbs does have the future in mind, his first priority is to win games. He's fair to his players, but he's not gonna dump Ramsey mid-season for junk when the Skins are 2-0 and alone in 1st, just because Ramsey's feelings may be hurt. Gibbs wants to win always, including right now. Then there's the fact that Ramsey is signed thru 2006 relatively cheap, while Brunnell's contract is a behemoth that very well may have to be dumped at year's end. I mean 2 weeks ago a June 1st 2006 Brunell cut was practically a given. So if we trade Ramsey and dump Brunell at year's end that leaves us with... ...Campbell. I like what I hear but is a rookie really ready to take control of this team if Brunnell goes down? How'd the great Kyle Orton do this week? QB is tough and it takes time. Big Ben was the exception last year not the rule. I mean I'm worried enough about Campbell next year let alone this year. Keep in mind that we're a FIRST PLACE TEAM right now. We should be thinking that way. I know Gibbs is. The future is now. So I really don't see Ramsey moving this year unless: A. Campbell is really ahead of Ramsey on the 2005 depth chart and B. The offer for Ramsey is astronomical. In the offseason if Gibbs really has no future plans for Ramsey, I think we'll let him go. I doubt Gibbs would hold him hostage here and force him to play out his contract, even if we have to dump Brunell. Canuck you are scaring me...this might be one of the only logical posts in the history of Brunell/Ramsey debate on this forum. Quick someone get out the flamethrower......just kidding. Nice post. If Eli Manning and Kyle Orton can start, Jason Campbell certainly can start and Gibbs can scale back the playcalling until he is comfortable with the offense. them the same way Ramsey did last year. Scale back the playcalling???????????????????????????? You mean no more WR screens? Patrick Ramsey is available after falling out of favor with the Redskins. The Jets would surely love to pry Billy Volek away from Tennessee, where he worked under Mike Heim.erdinger. But the Titans are not expected to deal him, especially with oft-injured Steve McNair edging closer toward retirement." http://www.newsday.com/sports/football/jets/ny-spjets0927,0,5551205.story?coll=ny-sports-headlines The Jets are testing the trade market for quarterbacks, but not much is available. The Titans' Billy Volek, Eagles' Mike McMahon and Redskins' Patrick Ramsey are not believed to be available. Luxorreb 09-27-2005, 08:10 AM Marty should trade Rivers. Get another draft pick or a player. Be huge for SD. Hog1 09-27-2005, 08:14 AM Brunell is now starting for us, how do you figure he learned from his mistake? To bad Gibbs didn't give Ramsey some real playing time to see if he learns from his mistakes, we all know WR's running the wrong routes is a Ramsey mistake not Gibbs, right! I have to ask what team have you been watching, Ill has already pointed out that Gibbs stayed with Brunell 9 games last season, which was probably 5 games to long, Ramsey? 19 minutes, I hope the 9 didn't confuse you, the 9 represents minutes not games. Funny how Ramsey won the job last season over Brunell in regular season competition, only to lose it in 19 minutes this season of regular season competition, as most scouts and coaches will tell you, pre-season doesn't mean jack when it comes to evaluation of teams and players, there are to many varibles that can lead to a players success, or failure, in a pre-season game. Er...off, I guess I am confused. I don't understand why is it you want to make this out to be a vendetta against Ramsey by Gibbs? If that is not what you are saying, what is it? What would Gibbs or the Redskins hope to gain by doing so? If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, guess what........it's a (lame) DUCK. It doesn't seem to matter be it a pre-season duck or regular season duck, to a 3-time superbowl winning coach, and winner in everything he does. He has built winners everywhere he has been, before and after the Skin's. If he thinks Ramsey can't cut it, and he clearly does, so be it. If it doesn't fit with some........scouts opinon, well considering the creds of those involved, I believe Joe knows!!! And hey.......look at that, Joe just managed what hasn't been done, basically since he left............beating the Boys in their own crib ON MONDAY NIGHT!! Are you a Redskin fan??? You sound more like a Ramsey fan. Luxorreb 09-27-2005, 08:22 AM if and when Ramsey plays he'll be 10 times smarter and playing to prove he's for real. Ramsey will start again this season. Redskins have 14 more games and all in a row! Brunell will show up again, but we won't succeed without the both of them. Ramsey and Brunell will take us to the promised land if they both play smart calculated Gibbs ball. And then there's the 70 yd bomb on 1st and 10 from the Redskins 30 yd line down 13-7 with less than 3 mins remaining... Maybe Joey T was right!?!? 56FAN 09-27-2005, 08:49 AM i think they will go after quincy carter or testaverde. both already know the system and they won't cost anything more than the money.. maybe in the off season. but i would be suprised if it happend now. |
