Groom was near the bottom of the league in punting, if you can't get it done you're outta here, I like the message the team is sending. Losing Tupa really hurt us.

Wayne Severe(sp?) and he was good. Real good. One of the best.
Unfortunately he can't coach from heaven. He died a few years back. Otherwise, he'd be back with the rest of the "Old Gang".

Yeah, I gotta agree with that. We need our players to perform as best as they can.

In Gibbs' press conference on skins.com today, he mentioned that Groom got a good role on a few, so that raised the average up some. Bottom line, Groom wasn't hitting it where he had to, either too short or out of the endzone. THere are lots of punters out there, so you gotta produce, especially if you are a rookie.

We'll see if this new guy is the answer, or the first of a number of auditioning players. Special teams can really help and it can really hurt. And with our offense, losing the field position game is a big problem.

(Guess that's why the call it the NFL--Not for long, if you kick like that!)

I guess there was a big enough problem with groom to bounce him. I feel like our special teams is really shaky, including return and coverage teams. I feel like we are shooting ourselves in both feet when we can't move the ball on offense, and we can't get any positive yards in the return game. This is a huge problem in the field position battle. If our special teams can be top flite our shortcomings on offense would figure less in each game.
It may be a more solvable problem then the offense.

I think we're witnessing a change in the guard for the NFC East. Gibbs is not waiting for an Akers situation to occur. Philadelphia has got to be one of the dumbest and cheapest organizations in the NFL. It was cute the first time Simeoneau kicked the field goal. But to go another week without signing a place kicker is ridiculous. Then on top of that, plead with an injured kicker to go out and win the game for them is really pathetic.

It'd serve them right if Akers tore that hammy up and was out for weeks. Morons they are. And cheap ones to boot.

Skins have seen more than we have of Groom. I thought he did a fine job, but something tells me we haven't seen anything yet from a below average special teams team.

In Gibbs I trust!

There's plenty of punters to choose from. Just grab another.
