Maybe our bitching paid off?

Though the prospect of a blackout of the Saints-Giants game in New York might have been a good thing for Big Apple Cowboys and Redskins who won't see the first half or so of the 9:00 p.m. matchup between Dallas and Washington on ABC, we've also been told by the NFL that, in New York and New Orleans, the first half of the Cowboys-Redskins game will be shown on ESPN.

When the doubleheader initially was announced, it was said that the Giants-Saints game will begin on ABC at 7:30 and then switch over to ESPN at 9:00, except in New Orleans and New York, where the game would remain on ABC. This prompted several e-mails to us from Redskins and Cowboys fans in New York, who thought they'd miss out on seeing the first half of the "real" Monday night game.

So for folks in the following markets who want to see the the first half of the Redskins-Cowboys game, dial up ESPN at 9:00 and you'll catch all of the action: New York City; Bangor, Maine; Albany, New York, Binghamton, NY; Elmira, NY; Hartford-New Haven, CT; Portland, ME; Rochester, NY; Syracuse, NY; Utica, NY; Watertown, NY; Alexandria, MS; Baton Rouge, LA; Biloxi, MS; Columbus-Tupelo, MS; Greenwood, MS; Jackson, MS; Lafayette, LA; Meridian, MS; Monroe, LA; New Orleans, LA; Pensacola, FL; and Shreveport, LA. After the Giants-Saints game ends, the Redskins-Cowboys game will migrate back to ABC.

Excellent. I can watch in my apartment and disturb the neighbors.

Guess I won't be going to the Falls bar until after the bye.

Did anyone in NYC go to the Falls for the first game? How was it?

Talk about an easy solution. I'm actually kind of surprised they did it! Too much drama already in the season and it's only week 2.

Sweet, I'll be watching the game from the comforts of my own home.

Well on the radio yesterday, the ABC sports director in Rochester (WHAM) went on and explained the lineup and told people to stop calling....me....LOL! At least we'll all be able to watch it.

That's a beautiful thing. I soon as I heard the original program schedule, I called the NFL's PR department and left about 4 voice mails that weren't returned. On the 5th try I finally got someone and they told me they were woriking on it anf they have received many complaints. I told her not the "F" with my Redskins!! -Summo

They better recognize the best fans in the league that fatten the leagues pockets with revenue sharing. They don't recognize our players on the field, and the #1 fans in the NFL...that is ridiculous.

they sure did come up with somewhat of a fudged up way to handle the monday night games. this would have all been so much simple if they had just put the giants/saints game on espn from start to finish. having the games jump around from network to network is just ridiculous.

Yeah. They tried 'turning off' late-season, non-playoff bound Redskins' game some time ago here locally (Hampton Roads) and haven't dared to do it since. :oink:
