Sheriff Gonna Getcha 09-17-2005, 12:20 AM I'm sort of surprised that they didn't ask him a question about Ramsey in a very diplomatic fashion in order to give him a chance to speak directly to the fans who are concerned with the switch. Maybe they were thinking he already addressed the issue in the press conference?
Tahoe Skin 09-17-2005, 01:56 AM Matt --- I believe the appropriate terms is FILTERED. ES is filtered now.
Yes, Filtered! That's what it seemed like to me.
What irony!
Anyway, my response at ES (perhaps a bit too harsh) was as follows:
1. I learned nothing that I hadn't heard him say on other sites. For me, it was total rhetoric and very boring.
2. Most of the questions that were asked were not at all insightful. (My question was very insightful, and did not get asked, even though it had nothing to do with the QB situation. But I understand not all questions can be asked.) In any case, I'm glad I didn't follow it live, cause it was better for me to make a very quick and cursory review. I mean, if you're only going to lob the soft pitches - why have him on at all? Bring in people who are willing to face the tough questions.
3. Are you kidding me: Hit the refresh button repeatedly? Why not some sort of instant messenger? Why not streaming audio? Or, better yet, streaming video. I'm sorry but I gave up on the refresh button 5 minutes into the Snyder "chat", so I wasn't about to follow the Gibbs "chat" live. Glad I learned my lesson a couple of weeks ago.
In any case, thank you for your time and effort.

Joe Knows... 09-17-2005, 05:12 AM The question about Brunell's injury last year and the way he looked in the pre-season was enough for me about the QB issue. I really don't want the Coach to be badgered about it. That 1 question provided enough info I wanted to know about in that issue.
There were some good questions chosen, and there were some pointless questions chosen. I really wish they would have chosen a question about the kick return vacation and the need for one. I had hoped they would have chosen the one that asked him about Brian Mitchell.
Overall, I think they decided to put the Sports Reporters/substance aproach aside and go for the "Acess Hollywood" / "Entertainment Tonight" type of approach. It seemed to have more entertainment and less football substance/ less information than hoped for.

well, they weren't informative, and they also weren't entertaining, so....
why can't their "live" chats at leat have the basic functionality of the esspn live chats?
JWsleep 09-17-2005, 02:05 PM Our Cooley "chat" was so much better--of course, Cooley is generally going to be more fun than a nervous coach getting ready for Dallas.
I'd love to see a Gregg Williams chat, btw.

That's next on their list right after the Portis chat. I think it's 2 or 3 weeks from now. I garuntee you he's going to get a lot of questions asking if he would stick around long enough to be the next head coach of the Redskins when Joe Gibbs decides it's time to move on again.

Funny thing is, Williams has already been asked that same question several times by the press, and he's always said he intends to be here for a long time. Of course, every time something big happens in the organization (like the QB switch, for instance) people want to know whether Williams's feelings about sticking around have changed. It will certainly be interesting to see what Williams decides to do after the season if his defense remains among the league's elite, while the offense continues to flounder.
I've never met anyone like Gregg Williams. He's a unique individual with unique talents, and I hope that he stays with the organization for many years. But I can't see him remaining loyal to the organization if the team doesn't start winning a lot more games. That means Gibbs and his offense must start producing more yards, more time of possession and most importantly: more points. The length of Williams's tenure here will be directly related to how successful Gibbs is over the next few months.

AHHHHH....but this is where Snyder come in......if Williams is paid as much as other HEAD coaches make, even though he's an assistant, he's gonna stick around for a while knowing that he's being monetarily rewarded....of course, there is a point when he will want an opportunity to be a head coach again...I just hope he's content to stick around until Gibbs retires, then become the head man.....
extremeskins 10-01-2005, 09:00 PM Of course they are avoiding the issue. Why would the "official" forum of the Redskins put the coach in a bad position?
Hey buddy... since you like trashing Extreme...
Do you mind talking about Chris Cooley's affair with a cheerleader in your next Cooley chat? And any other cheerleaders he's banging....
Love to hear about that... let's see if you guys have some balls.

Greg Williams chat right here... with audio:

We've had Cerrato, Snyder, Portis, Gibbs and now Williams.... all great interviews with the possible exception of Gibbs... who, quite frankly... isn't exactly the most informative or most forthcoming interviewee in Redskins Park (you know, the guy IS know to hold secretive practices at High Schools and bar the media from practices because he doesn't want to reveal anything) - so to expect him to offer an explanation into his QB change is ridiculous.
But if you want to hang your hat on a Cooley chat forever.... that's cool too.
