How about this, what happened last year with Brunell was last year. The guy is a much smarter qb than Ramsey is now. I always thought that Brunell was like Favre but left handed. I don't want to lose this game 31-28 and have people say that "well atleast he scored points." Just WIN!!!!!!! I can't take this not making the playoffs stuff. What we as fans need to do is rally around our qb and our TEAM and will them to victory. I know a little faith can't hurt either. I think that coach Gibbs is better judge of talent then all of us. Hell, he has forgotten more football then all of us. And wouldn't this be a nice little ruse that that coach Gibbs is using to try to have dallas think that our qb and offense is so much turmoil. Just give Brunell a second chance to make us believe that he is the man. Just WIN DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are right on one point; Gibbs has FORGOTTEN football!! Annnnd, Brunell is just a has been, retread that Gibbs favors because he too is "born again"!

the ball has to break the plane... cooley was in the end zone waiting, but brunell underthrew him (pretty badly for such a short throw) and so he had to run back a bit to grab it.Colley only made his cut a foot or less in the endzone and was coming back to the ball when it was thrown. He did not run his rout deep enough and that can't be put on Brunell.

What this guy conveniently leaves out of this article is that at least half of us wouldn't question Gibbs' decision if (1) He wasn't the one who went out and overpaid for a washed up Brunell and (2) He hadn't shown patience with Brunnell for 9 freaking games last year and yanked Ramsey in the first freaking quarter! Gibbs historically stuck with his qbs, even through dismal times. So what's the difference this time? The difference is Gibbs is responsible for bringing the ancient one here, so Gibbs is still trying to save face. Remember when Gibbs told us last year that we hadn't seen the last of Brunnell? How could he say that after witnessing such horrible QB play? He said it, cause he was trying to save face after what 99% of all football fans criticized him for overpaying for Brunnell in the first place.

Nevertheless, you can't pick your family, and you can't pick your starting QB, so on Monday night Im rooting for the old fart while downing multiple Buds to ease the pain. Please Mr. Brunnell, please don't return to your sucky play this week, hold off for just a couple of weeks, PLEASE! Go Skins. 100th post, god I waste a huge part of my day on here.....So how is saving face by playing a QB who is washed up the two do not go together. What your saying is that Gibbs is saying screw the other 51 players, screw the owner, screw all the fans I'm playing Brunell to make me look better and don't care if we win games it will make me look better.

No, Im saying that he stuck with Brunnell through 9 horrific games last year because it was Joe Gibbs who went out and overpaid for him, so Joe gave him chance after chance after chance. The fans went nuts, because Brunnell was sooooo bad, that the fans finally booed the guy out of his last starting game. Now, Joe is going back to Brunnell again and he is giving him yet another chance, in the hopes that somehow someway he can show us that he did not make a huge free agency blunder. Ask yourself this: If Mark Brunnell was not brought in by Joe Gibbs himself, would he still be with the Skins and would he be getting this second opportunity? I think the answer is clearly "No".

We can argue this until we're blue in the face, in fact I think we have already.

The fact remains that Brunell was hand picked by Gibbs, and Gibbs obviously believes that Brunell gives the team the best chance at winning games.

It doesn't have anything to do with ego or trying to prove people wrong or the fact that Brunell is a religious person (Ramsey is too for the record). If you believe these things you really don't understand the kind of man Joe Gibbs is.

He wants to win, and he wants to win now. He would never put his ego in front of the team. Case in point, look at the changes he's made to the offense. He's using the shotgun now for crying out loud, something that he used to have a strong dislike for. He's added more 3 and 4 WR sets, and he's added running plays and blocking schemes that better fit the style of Portis.

He's not afraid to try new things even if it means doing something that in the past he didn't believe in. He's very open-minded because in the end he only has one goal in mind... and that's winning.

Yeah, I turned blue in the face over this one about two days after the whole thing went down. I didn't even have the energy to fully respond to one of my post that I got crap over.

Let's just play some football and get to the playoffs.

Anyway you look at the Brunell signing was a bust even if he leads us to a winning season. He was brought in as vet with what was thought alot of skills and 3 to 4 more years as a starting QB. Gibbs was wrong but he cannot step infront of the press and say that at this time the guy is still a player on this team. I do not think Gibbs played him for 9 games because he gave him a huge contract. I think he stayed in because Ramsey showed nothing in preason just as Brunell and Gibbs was hoping that our offense and Brunell would improve. Which it did not. I still say we have to face the fact that neither Ramsey nor Brunell are QBs of the skins future and that soon we will be watching Campbell as our starter. That will give Gibbs about 3 1/2 years to groom Campbell and make a run at the SB. I would love to say otherwise but I don't think its likley that either Ramsey or Brunell will turn things around and lead us to the playoffs this year. I would love to be proven wrong but I just don't see that happening. We could have a winning season but it will probaly not be because of an outstanding perfomance from either Mark or Ramsey.I'm sorry I did not post as a reply but this is a reply to Paulskinfan.

Actually if our defense stays healthy and if Brunell doesn't make a lot of turnovers, I think our chances are really good in the NFC this year.

Just like the Bears may slip under some radar screens this year, I think the same is true for the Redskins. And if it comes down to any tie breakers between us and the Bears, we'll get the nod.

As far as Campbell goes, I was thinking he'll challenge for the starting spot next year but could possibly lose out to Brunell and start the following year. God knows, I hope I'm wrong but we'll have to see on that one. One things for sure some questions will get answered tonight.

you can watch him sit unguarded a foot deep in the end zone for a couple seconds before he HAD to come out because the ball was thrown short. I've slo-mo'd that play about 10 times now.
