Somthing different to talk about...

With all the Ramsey/Brunell talk this week, I forgot about somthing I wanted to bring up...

What do you guys think of the Portis/Betts connection that is coming about? I heard that they have enough confident in Betts that they are just telling Portis to go out there and run as hard and fast as he can and as soon as he is tired to call on Betts. I dont know about anyone else, but I really think this is going to be a huge improvment for our running game. Portis obviously is the man and will get the majority of the carreis, but I think the fact that he can call on Betts whenever he feels he needs a blow is going to help him be alot more explosive this year, thoughts?

Betts is becoming a force.

I think Betts is really going to be a key part of the offense this year. I'll even go so far as to say it wouldn't surprise me to see some occassions where Betts is lined up in the backfield and Portis is in the slot as a wide receiver.

Portis and Betts is a really nice combo.

Betts will be hard to keep after this contract. I see a LaMont Jordan-esque exodus from him.

I just wanted to use Jordan-esque in a post.

splitting the running is one of the best ideas imaginable. this is shown by the yards per average portis picked up during the game. I said a few weeks ago that i hope betts and Portis coul share the running and that we run a lot this year. We ran 40 times, no way could Portis do 35 of those every game but betts is a force that can pick up 15-20 of those runs and get us good yards

I hadn't thought about that formation but that would cause some good mismatches and confusion by still leaving a viable threat in the backfield for a run. Plus it's not like betts is a slouch in the passing game. It'd be sweet to see a play set up a fake screen to one that sets up the screen for the other on the opposite side of the field.

portis likes betts cause he can get the big plays, get his yards and sit down with his ypc while betts grinds out the clock for 2-3yards a pop.
