LadyT 09-12-2005, 08:17 PM illdefined - You're 100% right. Three drives for Ramsey doesn't even come close to equalling the many games he let Brunell lplay ast season before he finally yanked him.
I used to revere Joe Gibbs, but after his disgusting treatment of Ramsey, I no longer do. Why should any of the other players believe anything he tells them from here on out? And that is the real danger in what Gibbs had done today.
You won't read it in the papers, but you can bet that many of the players are talking about this among themselves and more than a few of them are probably just as disgusted as a lot of us are.
redsk1 09-12-2005, 08:20 PM Let me say that i want to win no matter who the qb. With that being said, we gave Ramsey 1 qtr!! 1 qtr??? It was just on espn that ramsey gave gibbs a call and asked for a trade. 1 qtr? I hope brunell comes in and tears it up. I really do, but I remember last year. Gibbs promised Ramsey the job and took it after 1 qtr. I feel bad for the guy. Who has lost their job after less than 1 game? I know Gibbs knows what he is doing but I can't say agree w/ this harsh decision.
illdefined 09-12-2005, 08:29 PM our WR's last year left skid marks on their way out. you know Brunell hasn't had many reps with these new guys. how much confidence is the offense supposed to have now? how bout the defense? what's it going to take, another burned season? Brunell at 37?
Gibbs just did what he was brought in to PREVENT. even more instability, sure, pile it on, all those writers are going to be proven right. the most unstable franchise in the league. god i hope this is a trick for Dallas.
diehardskin2982 09-12-2005, 08:30 PM I am very upset about the treatment of Ramsey and I feel this will seriously stunt his growth as a star in the NFL, if he ever will become one.
Ramsey:
6/11 105 yards sacked 2 turnovers 1
Brunnel
8/14 70 yards sacked 1 turnovers 0
From Gibbs standpoint, I guess he feels Dallas will be blitz heavy and he wants someone in there who won' t turnover the ball and manage the clock especially if we take a lead. If brunnel can throw it deep successfully I agree with the decision otherwise I don't.
I think Gibbs made the wrong decision, and I fervently hope I'm wrong. Everyone (except the trolls) on this board wants the Skins to win this week, all we are arguing about is what gives us the best shot.
I must say though, I'm a bit sick of the Gibbs worship. It seems like he could take us through a winless season and there would still be a contingent that would point to his three superbowl wins and say "He knows what he is doing!!"
I wonder if there is anything we could agree on as a benchmark for if the game has passed Gibbs by or not. I would say anything less that 8-8 this season and my confidence in him is shot.
I was a fan during those, what, 12 incredible seasons he was here before. I loved the way he ran the team, but this time around.. I don't know. I have a hard time respecting his treatment of Ramsey.
Longtimefan 09-12-2005, 08:38 PM I said early in the spring when everyone was constantly bashing Brunell that we would see him again this season, I just didn't know it would be in week two. Whether we choose to beleive it or not, there are several players on the team that do not share many of us negative views on Brunell and I have first hand knowledge of their feelings.
What we need now is for Ramsey to be as supportive of Brunell as Brunell was of him because the way things look now we're going to need them both before the season is over. So, lets stay cool guys, dont kill anybody, keep the faith and stay supportive because we have a long way to go yet!!
skinsguy 09-12-2005, 08:40 PM TAFKAS:
Can I have a spot on the Bandwagon with you guys, too? Hail to the Redskins...no matter who the QB is! I've been with them through the glory years, and if they're going down in flames, I'll go down with them!
RedskinRat 09-12-2005, 08:43 PM he said he couldn't make it in his press conference, and that it was unfair to ask him to throw it ;)
since he wasn't warmed up... but then again, its been over a YEAR now and he has yet to warm up :(
He was kidding. Re-read the article on the quote. I'll find it and post it after the Weasels game.
hurrykaine 09-12-2005, 08:44 PM All I can say is good riddance! Trade Ramsey's ass if that's what we wants - let him take his cannon arm and unrealized potential to some other team (to an offense where he could be more successful) - no hard feelings. If we can get a second round pick for him in next year's draft, that's a good deal for us. There might even be teams that'll give us a 1st rounder (the Dolphins were willing last year).
I just could not see us winning against Dallas with Ramsey at the helm. Even though Ramsey was QB in the only win against Dallas in the last 15 games, it was a meaningless game 16, and even in that game, he managed to throw an INT that Roy Williams returned 70 odd yards for a TD.
If Brunell stinks it up,and we're 1-5, then start Jason Campbell and let him learn on the job, since the job will be his next year.

What you're really saying is that this season is over with before it's hardly begun. Because, mark my words, Mr. Brunell will be no better than last year, and neither will the offense if he's leading it.
But, I don't blame Brunell for bringing on this early season mess and instability. I lay the blame squarely where it belongs - on Gibbs' shoulders.
