Redskins running back Clinton Portis has hurt the Bears in more ways than one the past two seasons, a trend that the Chicago defense is determined to stop in Sunday's opener in Washington.
"He's fast, that's the No. 1 thing," Urlacher said. "He's got great vision. They run a lot of counters and a lot of traps. They're always pulling guards or tackles. He tore us up last year. He's one of the best running backs in the NFC."

i hope that's what they're thinking, it's all about stopping the run first, because if gibbs can exploit that, i hope we go deep, either to patten or moss, just to loosen their defense up.

Yeah, Yeah...
Like they didn't want to stop the run in the last game?
Maybe our fearsome passing attack last year just had them on thier heels...

It reminds me of something our coaches said about Mcants and special teams. Mcants said that he had always played special teams and that he would play them and didn't know where anyone got the idea that he wouldn't contribute in that way. The coaches response was "just because you are willing to play special teams doesn't mean you can play special teams".

So, the Bears should know that just because you want to stop the Redskins running game it does not mean you can stop it.
