Internally, Gibbs was wounded after just his second losing season in 13 years as coach. Gone for a dozen years, he knew he’d have to make adjustments to rule changes, a salary cap, faster, more athletic and aggressive defenses and other issues. But even the small stuff seemed difficult, and it hurt him to hear people say the game had passed him by.
“I have been in this business for 28 years and that garbage doesn’t bother me,” assistant Joe Bugel said. “But you should have seen Joe when they said he couldn’t coach anymore. The veins in his neck bowed, his chest puffed out and he said, 'I don’t care what it takes, we’re not leaving here without another ring.’ ”
That's why you have faith.

That is great quote. I love Buges....he never bites his tongue.
I HAVE FAITH! I BELIEVE!!!
That's one of the reasons Gibbs has such a special place in Redskins' fans hearts. We know that he's going to bust his tail as our coach, and turning around this team and franchise is all-consuming for him.
If he fails in his second term here (which I highly doubt), it certainly won't be for a lack of effort on his part, and to me that's all we can ask.

I already had plenty of faith, but that is exactly what I needed to hear. What a great quote! I sure hope Ramsey emerges from his Cocoon and spreads his wings.

I hope Ramsey opens up like a flower in the morning and shows us all his colors! :laughing2
But seriously that was a great quote! I agree, I needed to hear that as well!

One word for this season....SLOBERKNOCKING!
Go ahead media and piss Gibbs off. Right on.
Great quote and good to hear. I took him on his word when he said he would be here for 5 years no matter what.
Thanks for sharing
peace

Great point. It sure beats Spurrier saying things like "Jim Haslett puts in long hours, and it doesn't seem to do him a whole lot of good."
Gotta love it when your coach puts his all into it and takes it personally.

"The veins in his neck bowed, his chest puffed out"...
A side of Joe that he doesn't show the media but those of us that remember the championships have seen it. Stay faithful, all. Joe will be true to his word.

Great Post. I believe he will deliver a Super bowl as a result. I personally think the plan is for Joe to win the big one, one more time and give the reins to Greg Williams. That would suit me fine. It may be a bit overstated, but if you take the Gibbs years out of Redskin history, your left with the Bengals! Yea....................I'm a Gibbs believer

Not entirely true. George Allen took us to the promised land. He just forgot where he put the key when he got there.
