I just saw this over at SI (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_gallery/2005/09/01/gallery.nfl.disappointments/content.1.html) .
I don't know how you can put the 2000 team (8-8 following a 10-6 season) as one of the "most disappointing" teams of all times. I think they were one of the most overhyped teams of all times, but failing to live up to unwarranted hype does not "disappointing" make.

I think the reason is because Snyder went on a FA shopping spree. He spent all this money on quality FAs and it never panned out.

Yeah, but all of the other teams were at the top of the league the year before, and then blew up. The Skins were 10-6 in 1999, following seasons of 9-7, 8-7-1 and 6-10. They just don't seem to be in the same league as the other teams.
I can agree with the 2000 team.
Here was a team coming off a very nice 10-6 season where they were a hair away from the NFC Championship game.
Snyder comes in and plays fantasy football with the team, dumping tons of dough on superstars past their prime and in the process totally mucks up the team's chemistry and he rides Turner right out of town.
Snyder tried to buy a Super Bowl and the Skins in '00 were a big flop.

I remember the spending spree - I was in Vegas in the spring of that year, and they were getting good odds to win the Super Bowl. My point is more that there was no basis for their hype - the other teams had all actually accomplished something and then folded.
It seems like a distinction that bothers only me. So be it!

i sometimes feel disapointed
One thing, didn't the 69 redskins do good for the first time in like 20 years, then a coach dies. The team is not a disappointment, a legendary coach being dead also isn't a disappointment, it is sad.
Not saying that this specifically is redskin biased but if sports illustrated didn't come out with a swim suit issue every year i would seriously stop reading

well, you got the best coach in all of football coming into his second season with a fairly talented team after posting a winning record, how could you go wrong? Its disappointed cause you got less than you thought you would ;)
Lombardi was the reason so much was expected, and without him, well... not so good.

I was dissappointed with the 2000 team because I felt the Redskins were on their way up!
I was also really disappointed with the '93 team when Richie Petibone had taken over as head coach. I had hoped that he would have kept the winning tradition going.......
