Hail Washington Redhawksilldefined 09-02-2005, 03:38 PM we'll get Vegas this year :) http://blitzleague.com/team_profile_redhawks.html mooby 09-02-2005, 07:24 PM i feel bad for all those nfl games that can't use their names and players. 12thMan 09-02-2005, 10:51 PM do you guys think we'll ever have are beloved "Redskins" name/moniker removed from the organization? That Guy 09-03-2005, 01:39 AM do you guys think we'll ever have are beloved "Redskins" name/moniker removed from the organization? not in this lifetime... danny has enough money to pay for lawyer delay tactic for decades, but thats assuming anyone can come up with a real legal threat first, which thusfar, has yet to happen. joecrisp 09-03-2005, 09:07 AM I think the NFL would have to step in and say, "change your name, or else", and I'm not sure what they could do-- legally-- to force the Redskins to do that. Of course, the NCAA has taken similar action by banning offensive mascots and nicknames from postseason play, but they're unwilling or legally unable to take it a step further and ban outright any team with such mascots or nicknames. Thus far, the NFL has stayed out of any discussions regarding the Redskins name controversy, and I'm sure it'll stay that way as long as Tagliabue is commissioner. Aside from that, until the Native American people can prove the offensive nature of the Redskins moniker to the United States court system, Dan Snyder will have exclusive trademark rights to market that name however he wants. **Edit** In answer to your question, 12thman, I don't think it will happen as long as Tags is commissioner and Snyder is owner. |
