Falcons Cut Price - Are we interested?jbcjr14 08-31-2005, 09:42 AM I read on redskins.com (ticker) that the Falcons cut Peerless Price??? Ex- Williams guy, do we go get him? Daseal 08-31-2005, 09:54 AM To be honest, he might be worth a look as long as we can sign him to a decent contract. He may not be a #1, or maybe the Falcons system didn't fit him, but no denying what he did as a #2. Could be a great slot receiver. I think he was cut primarily for financial reasons, but my gut feeling is that players cut this time of year usually have some baggage attached. Daseal 08-31-2005, 09:59 AM That's true Brud. I doubt we'd get him under the terms that I'd want him, he'd have a contract heavily based on incentives. MTK 08-31-2005, 10:03 AM The only problem is his contract, I think I read somewhere that he's due $2M this year. Anybody want a 3rd or 4th string WR for $2M? SantanaMan 08-31-2005, 10:03 AM Redskins | Price Draws no Immediate Interest Tue, 30 Aug 2005 22:36:14 -0700 The Washington Post reports <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/37/nfl">Washington Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs (http://www.kffl.com/player/9143/nfl) did not rule out discussing free agent WR Peerless Price (http://www.kffl.com/player/225/nfl) (Falcons) with the scouting department. At this point, Price has generated no immediate interest from the Redskins. Redskins | Warrick Draws no Immediate Interest Tue, 30 Aug 2005 22:29:14 -0700 The Washington Post reports <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/37/nfl">Washington Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs (http://www.kffl.com/player/9143/nfl) did not rule out discussing free agent WR Peter Warrick (http://www.kffl.com/player/409/nfl) (Bengals) with the scouting department. At this point, Warrick has generated no immediate interest from the Redskins. ChounsMan 08-31-2005, 10:18 AM He was cut early for financial reasons & so he could sign with another team in time to perhaps start in week#1. They did him a favor since they knew they were not going to keep him through the season. Peerless is a good WR, he was in a system that was not taylored to his style. Peerless is a downfield receiver who utilizes his speed, but with Vick & his tendencies to run & scrammble it made Peerless less attractive since they both were never in sync to start with. Peerless need a pocket passing QB like Ramsey. I would totally give him a look, but I would not over spend on him. I would make him an offer based on performance. Let him earn his way back to a solid contract. STPainmaker 08-31-2005, 10:29 AM Even though its early I think our offense has had enough chemistry problems that any position player of the caliber available would be at best a second half of the season impact player. I think the skins should focus on players in camp, and ready to play. I don't think we should avoid these players altogether but we should keep in mind that early in the season these WR's in particular may not help us. I don't think we'd pick him up off waivers. I think if anything, we'd consider signing him once he became a free agent. And if we did that, it would only be for the minimum. I doubt we end up with him. MTK 08-31-2005, 10:36 AM I don't think we'd pick him up off waivers. I think if anything, we'd consider signing him once he became a free agent.
