Did you read on the WP that the redskins have anounced that Jacobs will miss another week and miss this final preseason game. He missed the entire training camp and preseason. I heard he hurt his toe when he tripped on his skirt at home.

LOL. I wonder if he takes a piss standing up? Hell if he actually takes the field and DOES something this season I may get the Redskins replica #84 with "FRAGEELEE" on the back.

You got to see Jacobs play? WOW, what was it like? Was it in college, cause it certainly wasn't in the pros. I think we should give Jacobs a nickname, remember the movie "A Christmas Story" when the father gets that lamp that looks like a woman's leg in a fish net stocking. When he gets the box he says it must be from France because its marked "FRAGILE" (Frageeleee Jacobs). Nice.

Okay, okay. Point noted. I just recall that late last season he got into some games and had a few spectacular catches. It was enough to make me want to see more in a Redskin uniform before putting him in someone else's uniform. I agree that the constant injury bug is getting to be a bit tiresome, but hey, he's only $761K versus $2M for Price. And I still don't see Price putting up big time numbers with anyone as a #1. He benefitted from Eric Moulds in Buffalo....sort of like Scottie Pippin benefitted from MJ. Pippin on his own? Just didn't work out.

Yeah, Jacobs is cheap, I just don't know at what point we throw in the towel. I think everyone will agree that Price is this generation's Alvin Harper, a great No. 2, but nowhere near a No. 1 receiver.

Fair enough. It's a misleading stat. To clear it up:

Out of 106 passes where Price was the target in 2004, he caught 45 passes and dropped 5 balls deemed "catchable". My understanding is that's a ball he got his hands on in front of his body. There are still 56 balls where either the pass was off target, or he wasn't in the right place.

In 2003, he had 141 passes thrown to him, and he caught 64. He had 8 "official" drops, meaning 69 balls were not catchable for one reason or another.

The percentage of drops to passes in area is 5.26%. However, the drops to catches ratio is 11.9%. Compare that to another recent "#2 switching to #1" in Mushin Muhammad. His first season as a lead receiver (last year) had a 6.7% ratio, and his two-year average is 7.5%.

As for Vick vs. Schaub - there is a point there. Price averaged 4.25 receptions per game with Schaub, versus 2.86 with Vick. Neither one of those numbers in Canton-material, but there is a drop-off. However, as a member of the Atlanta Falcons football organization, you have to be poigniantly aware that Mike Vick is the face of your franchise, and its most important member. Backhanded requests to start his less-than-capable backup will be looked upon with disfavor.

BrudLee first of all thxs for clearing that up and basing in your statement Price drops less balls than another #2 now #1 receiver he dosen't have the best hand but he is dependable you know he will probably cach it if you trow it to him, and with the second point we can se clearly he didn't received so many balls with Vick.

Now I know Vick is the face of the Falcons and the player thats bringing all the money to the owner, but if I see it on Price side he was getting frustrated of Vick not trowing him the ball getting all the glory and him been declared a bust and 1 of the worst if not the worst signing of the falcons free agency history. I guess that's why he made those comments and maybe didn't wanted to play on the preseason because he wanted out he new thsi won't change vick won't become a great "passer" over night maybe he will but I think Price just grew tired of waiting and dindn't want to waste another sub-par year.
