mooby 08-30-2005, 01:54 PM we released the TC fodder, which was Jimmy Farris, McCants is gone, i believe there is another one still here, but i doubt he'll make it past the final cuts. I think Dyson isn't gonna be here long either, he hasn't shown anything in the preseason, and I think they're willing to give Jacobs another chance.
gortiz 08-30-2005, 02:06 PM While I expect Jacobs to make the team, my concerns about his toughness persist. I think he has a little bit of bitch in him.. I don't know that he has what it takes to make it in the NFL.. He seems great vs. air, but I don't think that when the live bullets start flying he is able to step it up.. Other than his rookie year with the internal injury that his injuries have been to the point that he was inactive.. Has he had any surgeries in his career or have they all been sprains and strains? He needs to know the difference between being hurt and being injured.
I think this a real dangerous game to play, just because from what I have heard over the last three years Jacobs has some intangibles you don't find in alot of players, work ethic, route running ability, etc. The question is how long do you keep holding on to him? I say give him another year if he is injured this year.
People gave up on Jimmy Smith (2ND RD Pick) big time, take a look at the first 4 years of his career, ZERO CATCHES SEVEN GAMES PLAYED!

Agreed!
Jacob's is a very good special teamer as well, he has a lot going for him but he does have to get healthy, his injuries have been legitamate, he could have died from one, and we all have seen what a strained toe can do to a reciever, I think he should be given whatever time he needs to get that toe 100%, it will only linger and get worse if he doesn't, we have enough depth right now at WR to wait him out.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that they need to cut him loose now, but they do need to let it be known to him that he needs to start to play thru the pain a little more.. There are people playing with broken bones, sprains and strains need to be worked thru..
That Guy 08-30-2005, 03:38 PM a lot of times WRs take 2-3 years to show up, which sucks... they're like DEs in that sense, you just dont know what you got until years down the road.

which is why we have to keep him
Big C 08-30-2005, 04:50 PM dyson contributes to ST by being a kick returner if we need one
Beemnseven 08-30-2005, 05:10 PM Jacob's is a very good special teamer as well ...
I keep hearing this. But I don't remember Jacobs standing out on special teams either.
To me, Antonio Brown has the kick/punt returner spot locked up.
If I'm wrong, and Dyson gets it, then someone please hand me an ice pick.
Jacobs blocked a punt last year in Detroit...

I thought that was Walt Harris. But even if it was Jacobs, then that alone would not allow Taylor Jacobs to be labelled a consistent stand-out on special teams, much less give him a pass to make the final roster cut yet again.
In fact, I'm really starting to wonder why Darnerian McCants was cut, who overall has clearly out-performed Jacobs in the short amount of time McCants was on the field.
