SmootSmack 08-21-2005, 06:47 PM This question probably applies more to those who were actually at the game. But has anyone seen how Jim Molinaro and Mark Wilson are playing? Did they even play?
I'm just curious to know how those guys are progressing
BossHog 08-21-2005, 07:29 PM Haven't been to a game this year, but I can assure you that they've played in the 3rd and 4th quarters against and in the fourth against CIN. With any OL you can assure that they're doing their job when their names aren't called. It isn't assumed that the starting OLs are playing all four quarters in the preseason? Just as it's hard to gauge Brunell against opposing teams' second and third stringers, Molinaro and Wilson haven't been thrown into the fire this year... yet. Besides Cooley, who do we like at the TE position so far? :oink:
Big C 08-21-2005, 07:48 PM my guess is that neither of them will see significant playing time as a redskin, or atleast will not turn out to be good players :(. just dont see them getting a chance for somet ime with the tackles we have, and if one got hurt we would try and fill their place with a proven FA id think
BossHog 08-21-2005, 08:07 PM I don't think that's the case. Wasn't Dockery given a shot? By the time Samuels' and Thomas' contract ripen, at least one of them will be ready to fill in permanently. :oink:
Big C 08-21-2005, 08:11 PM dockery was given a shot for this reason. we signed dave fiore, who had just come off of major knee surgery, and we drafted Dockery in the 3rd round, as opposed to the 5th and 7th. dockery was drafted because we knew fiore was coming off of that injury, and we expected dockery to eventually start. molinaro and wilson are tackles, and samuels and jansen will be around for atleast 2 or 3 years id say.
GoSkins! 08-21-2005, 08:47 PM I believe that I did see both of thier names in the second half. I'll check, but I seem to remember Wilson, Brown, Raymer, Friedman, Molinaro in at one time...

I am almost definite I saw both of them in the fourth quarter. I don't think you can just write these guys off yet. They will be under the tuteledge of Joe Bugel in the early part of their career, thats a big plus. If they are anything like the old hogs they will fill in nicely when injury forces them into action.
Molinaro has played in both games, Wilson played against Carolina but not against Cincinnati.
sportscurmudgeon 08-22-2005, 01:32 AM I saw Molinaro in the 2nd half against Cincy and he played acceptably. I never saw Wilson in the game - - but that doesn't mean he wasn't there.
As Redskins' fans ought to have learned last season, having capable OL backups is an important thing for an NFL team that aspires to a playoff appearance...
offiss 08-22-2005, 04:50 AM Molinaro defiently played, Wilson I am not sure, but the word on Molinaro is he's an animal, apparently he was knocking players all over the field in practice, driving lineman back 5 yards off the ball including leveling Sean Taylor on a blitz which he was slow to get up from, apparently he's very strong, which is very incouraging considering Wilson was probably a little ahead of Molinaro last season.
