Is Taylor Jacobs Injury Prone?

He's had what can only be considered fluke injuries. The abdominal trauma in his rookie season was so far out there, it reminded me of John Candy's admonition of Steve Martin in "Plains, Trains, & Automobiles" ("Hey you could have killed me by punching me in the stomach like that when I wasn't ready . . . that's how Houdini died ya know.") This toe injury is very similar - how many dislocated toes do you hear about each year?

If Jacobs had recurring issues with joints (insert Randy Moss joke) or a muscle group, then you start to be concerned. Right now, he's just snakebit.

The way he has gotten injured leads me to think he may be soft.

Injury #1: dives for a low thrown ball and lands stomach first on a players foot. Briuses his spleen. Out a month.

Injury #2: Makes a cut on a grass field and injures his toe. Out a month.

These are not plays where he he took a big hit from a defensive player. Just seems rather strange and weak.

Well, in his defense, I saw him lay out a dude on the Vikings last year during a kickoff return. One of the hardest hits I have ever seen out of a WR.

He does have fluke injuries, but, for his career, he needs to get healthy and string a few healthy years together. Maybe he gets back for the season openner. Actually, I'm not really concerned at all about him not playing in the preseason. He runs good routes and our QB's already know what to expect out of him.

Hope he gets back in time for the openner.

He had the flu on combine day.

Yeah, that what I was thinking of (the old flu injury...:))

All I know is what I see, and I have watched a lot of Skins games over the past 3 years and I have never seen much of Jacobs in a game or contibuting to a game. As much as I would like to see Antonio Brown become a 3rd WR kind-of-guy, I think we need a "big" guy to complement Patten and Moss..... and McCants is not going to be the guy, and so far Jacobs is not either...... Can Art Monk come back and runs some jump ball routes for us a couple of times a game? Can he still jump?

Does anyone know what his past injury history was in college and high school. If he did have alot injuries in the past than I would have to vote yes. I'm sure someone on this site knows how to find these stats.

According to Jacobs himself, he nevered suffered a serious injury before his rookie season in the NFL. I really think the guy has just been unlucky so far. Once this cloud passes over his head, I expect big things.

That if from his journal from the 3rd of this month.

Him and Rex grossman are two players that could be good had they not get injured so frequently. More Rex then him but these two could be great. Didn't they used to be the shit in college with eachother?

Besides the highly freakish injury of his spleen last year and the turf toe recently, I don't really remember any other injuries. There might have been more but those r the only I remember forcing him to miss games. Other than that, other guys had proven themselves and remained ahead of him on the depthchart. Plus it's not like each injury has had something to do with the other so it's not as much for us to stress over. I think when he heals up he'll show on the field what teammates, past and present, have raved about the guy for us all to see.

Yes, Taylor is injury-prone, so far. No doubt about it. Sure, the injuries were flukey, but that's exactly what makes a player injury-prone: weird, inexplicable injuries that don't seem to stop coming.

I've got my fingers crossed that his luck will change -- apparently he's got sick, sick skills.
