First let me say that I did not see all of the game yet, all that I was able to see was what the nfl network showed on there No Huddle program. I do remember watching when we threw over the middle to Betts and then the screen pass to Cartwright. At the time Ramsey was like 6 for 7, for 40 or 50 yards, with 1 int. I was dissappointed about the int but going 8 for 12 over all was still pretty good for not being in a game time situation since Jan. That is still a 67% completion percentage.

Someone mentioned that we can't afford for Ramsey to take weeks into the season to get over being nervous, and I agree so that is why we have 4 pre-season games. Also, another person stated that if Ramsey had taken all the snaps and what not at practice then why did he do so poorly? Well like most agree pre-season games are nothing more than practice, and I did see Ramseys int, he looked as if he was "practicing" on his "touch" throws. Now I know that Ramsey said that the ball came out wrong, but could it be that he was tring to get the feel for when a "touch" throw is needed versus a bullet pass... Remember, this whole "touch" pass idea is fairly new to Ramsey, who knows maybe he would not have thrown the int if he had tried to put a hole threw his reciever with the ball....

I'm not worrying about our play at all right now, if we suck in all 4 preseason games then YES, but right now, NO 'cus we are just getting the rust off.
Moss/Patten haven't had much game experience in our system yet, so Ramsey and Co. will have to play a bit more to get "comfortable" with them.
Gibbs hekld back the running game and we all know that aint gonna happen during the reg. season.
The D was missing a handful of starters and we all know Ade Jimoh isn't gonna be starting (or wearing a Skins jersey much longer if he continues the way he plays).
Campbell threw and INT and fumbled, so he didn't have as good a game as many are saying.

After hearing about the Rex Grossman injury it threw up a nightmare scenario for me ... what if Ramsey broke a leg or something and we then had to head into the season with Brunell as the starter, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
He may turn out to play well, but I just wouldn't be comfortable.

I didn't see the game so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I'm assuming Ramsey went up against the Carolina first string defense, which should be one of the top units in the entire league this season. I'm not sure how many different coverage looks they were giving him, but again I'm assuming they threw a few things at him and weren't 100% vanilla.

He finished 8/12 with an INT, sounds like a lot of dump offs and he wasn't able to connect on any deep stuff. Not a great beginning to the preseason but considering the quality of the defense he was facing, it could have been much worse. It also doesn't sound like Gibbs was showing much offensively and didn't try to run the ball much at all. I think we need to consider these things when evaluating his overall performance.

I've read that the protection was good, and I think if we take anything positive away from this game it should be the solid protection and the fact we had no major injuries.

It was the first preseason game, there's still alot of work to do obviously, but as we say every preseason you have to keep things in perspective. Championships aren't won or lost in August.

There's no sense in freaking out... but overall I must say the general feeling on this forum is pretty calm compared to other forums I've read. At least we don't have multiple threads going about how the sky is falling, Ramsey needs to be benched/traded, Campbell should start, etc.

hit hit the nail on its head matt, Ramsey was accurate but threw the ball short

What i felt was that he was scared and some of us agreed, it just seemed to me like he was worried about getting sacked, and who could blame him after 2003, but by now he must know how good his line played, to bad you didn't see it. I MEAN GOSH! our line was so good, all of the QBs felt like running the ball atleast once, they had such big holes, it was rediculous. The o-line would push the d-line out and there would be a gaping hole down the middle. and when the LBs blitzed our RBs filled in nicly, we didn't run so that hurt Ramsey in his ability to make production.

Some have said that Ramsey didn't look good-- i agree but i am completely against the notion of making brunnell the number one which most of us are

Some have felt the season doesn't look good-- i disagree. just because when portis gets behind a line like that he will be picking up huge gains. GUESS WHAT NO 8 IN THE BOX!!! They gave moss and patten respect.

The worst positions were CB and QB, both are fixable. Cb expecially because Springs didn't play and Ade sucked!

OUR line again has so much potential, it can be tops in the league. The commentators said that Ray Brown said that Dockery could be one of the best in the league. YOu have to respect what Brown says and it is so hard for us to judge individual linemen. Dockery threw Jenkins, just tossed him. the rest of our line played well, janson had the only boo boo with a holding call

Yeah seeing dockerey manhandle jenkins was a big posotive. I dotn think they ever did any stunts against our first string line, though, and if I recall thats where dockery has the most trouble. We'll see if he can keep it up through the rest of the season. I know we had high expectations for him when we brought him in, but his play has been pretty weak up to this point. I hope he turns it around. Maybe Ill stop trading him in madden lol.

Perspective, people. Washington lost a preseason game to the Panthers.

But, Dallas lost a preseason game to the CARDINALS.

And, New York lost a preseason game to the BROWNS.

And, Philadelphia has their own problems.

Of course you would rather have won - but we probably shouldn't bury the season yet.
