I don't have a link, but he was talking about Rod Gardner today on Sirius NFL radio. Apparently Rod lives in Atlanta during the offseason and they work out at the same place.

First thing he made is Gardner is already with the first team and looks absolutely amazing. Secondly, he said that Gardner told him that the offense in Washington was horrible, it didn't suit his style at all, and that we didn't have a QB to get him the ball. He said "Last year I felt more like a retreiver than a receiver. The QB would skip the ball to me, I'd pick it off the ground and bring it back instead of catching it and running."

I know this is Rod Gardner hate center, but I truly believe he had a bad rap here and wasn't used correctly. He dropped some bad balls, but look at the stats when we throw his way a lot per game. When we like to toss the ball to him a lot he gets tons of yards and makes big plays. Braylon Edwards dropped a lot of balls early in games at Michigan, yet they didn't stop going to him and it showed.

I'm curious to see what our two old receivers do. I think Coles is far better, even with a toe injury, than anyone we have on our roster. I think Gardner, while he makes some mistakes, is much better than fans on this board want to admit. We could have done worse for a WR duo.

where'd you go daseal, you haven't been on much lately. anyways, it seems like whenever someone gets the chance to leave washington, before they even play a game for another team they start bad mouthing us. i mean, i think there was a time when smoot was talking bad about the skins this offseason in minnesota, and we all know coles bad mouthed us. first oppurtunity they get, they take the chance to say we suck. shit, even antonio pierce talked shit about us.

I've said in a few other threads. I wake up at about 12:30 AM, get home at 1-2 PM, sleep till 6, go back to bed at 9. So I've been reading but not much time to post. Had a little extra time this week luckily.

I was pretty sure Smoot said pretty good things about DC, but shouldn't we look at our orginization and figure there's probably a reason TO bad mouth us? One playoff run in 12 or 13 years. I don't see why Antonio Pierce talked like that because a scheme got him paid more than he's worth, he should sing the praises. I understand why criticism comes.

yeah but to bad mouth the organization when they never even did anything to you, it just shows where your heart really was while you were here. true, we haven't had a winning record in a long time, but to see these players talk shit about us first chance they get isn't something i like. they could have a little professional courtesy and keep their thoughts to themselves. we all thought antonio pierce liked it here, then he comes out in an article bad mouthing us. i remember an article where fred smoot said the same things. and now rod gardner.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if Gardner has a good year. My guess is that a change of place will do him a world of good--he just couldn't get it done here, and the damage was done.

I'm just glad we got something for him. Still, my guess is that he'll have a big year--he's got the skills if he can stay focused. That's a big if, I know. BUt no way he turns it around in DC at this point, so we had to deal him, IMO.

As for players bad-mouthing the skins--well, whatever. We all know Danny loves the FAs on the way in, so when folks don't get a big payday, they feel betrayed. But Gibbs is changing that, so over time we'll hear less and less of it, I guess. ANd if we win, then everyone will say how great we are. It's the way things go in the NFL and sports in general.

If you have forgotten, your boy Spurrier sure did pitch him the ball a lot, but what happened? Spurrier, the most easy going coach in the history of the game, benched him. What does that tell you?!

Coles with a toe injury is not better than anyone on the team now. Coles was a good WR before he got hurt, but after his injury, he was no where near what we paid him to be.

Gardner would be a very good player if he was consistent, but he's not. He could not be relied upon to produce when he was wearing a Redskins jersey. No ifs ands or buts about it, that's fact.

are you insane? could you not see the difference in coles ability to get open after the toe injury? coles is not better than moss or patten at this time, he is injured and it has really affected his ability to separate from defenders or make good cuts.

gardner has done nothing but stink up the field since entering the nfl. will he turn things around and play better in carolina? possibly but it doesn't really matter because he was close to pathetic in washington.

What's so ironic about the players that leave for other teams and badmouth us is that when they come to us initially they have nothing but good things to say, when for whatever reason things don't work out it's all negative. Several players come to mind when I'm reminded of this. Dan Wilkerson, Jerimiah Trotter, Champ Bailey, Fred Smoot, Indeque Kalu, Antonio Pierce, Mike Sellers, L, Coles, Rod Gardner, the list just goes on and on. When they're done playing where they are now they will say bad things about that team if they're fortunate enough to move on to still another team. It seems to be a trend for which there is no cure.

i dissagree wolfeskins.

i think coles and his toe is better than moss and his hamstring/ankle/knee.
gardner was able to compete and beat defender. his problem was concentration and offensive consistency.

what facinates me is the high praise for patten. what has patten done in his career? is being a 3rd stringer in a superbowl a big deal?
btw
that wr you call pathetic has more TD's in 4 years with 3 different coaches than patten has in his 8 year career and he has 600 less yards than patten in half the time.

gardner has and will be a 1000 yard receiver. i wish him well, btw i agree with the comments he made. the offence was horrible, the QB's are garbage.

patten is a scrub. moss is delicate. coles is better than they are.

Well, I would like to thank the Redskins for giving up Rod Gardner...From what I saw at the Panthers training camp...Rod Gardner looked awesome. I really feel he is gonna help out the Panthers a lot. Now, he won't be as good as Smith but not to many are :). That is if we can stay away from the injury bug that plagued us last year.

BTW wish you guys a great season this year. Can't wait to see the Redskins and Panthers play Saturday night...I know it is preseason but it's still Football.
