"I picked up 20 pounds getting in the weight room," Portis said, sweating after the morning practice. "I guess age [contributed]. I'm getting old."

The third-year veteran chuckled, then turned serious:

"Pretty much it was just working [out]. I knew what it was going to take. I knew I needed to pick up weight for the type of offense that we're running. In the two-yard gains, I probably need this weight to turn 'em into four or five [yards]."

This guy is flat doing what it takes to get better as a team. Not many big stars will change their game. Everything I have read about CP makes me love his style - he talks but he walks the walk. I would love to be a lineman for him

He seems almost like the RB version of Smoot to me. Except with more talent.

I agree, he is the man, and I'm a huge portis guy ... I would be surprised if he doesn't get at least 200 more yards, and 3-4 more TD's this season, or at best, get his yards per carry average back up to 5...

But 20 pounds? I think that is portis be portis and him just F-ing with all of us ... 20 pounds of muscle is a freaking lot...could be true but man, but thats alot!

If he does actually weigh 220 other teams are going to be in even more trouble.

He tends to overexagerate things, 20 pounds seems like an awfully lot. He doesn't look much heavier than 210.

Yeah. the round off and double formula.

7lbs -> 10lbs*2 = 20

I like how he's taken on a leadership role.

It's good to have that from your most talented skill positions.

Now if only Taylor would follow suit...

Portis vs. "The Washington Redskins Official Roster"

Honesty Odds:

2:1 in favor of the Roster

I think he is 7lbs heavier, and that the reason he is better this year, is because his weight slows him down enough for our favorite linemen to pull across the center. He would have been better last year if every time he touched the ball, he hesitated half a second.

I'll admit to being a little confused. Portis says he is beefing up for the type of offense the Skins will be running, but I thought the offense was being adjusted to accomodate Portis and what made him successful in Denver, what with the zone-blocking and all that.

If you are reading the subtle undertones. I hope the old coach was talking to Portis about his plans. No serious worries though, Clinton is a playmaker.
