if he didn't come here i heard he was asked to become atlanta's team president, he's VERY good at being the face of the franchise and motivating players, building unity etc, but i agree with daseal in that the play calling definately needs a major improvement from last year if we want to win more games.

I think last year's draft was GREAT (besides tossing a pick in for brunell, ugh).
I think rodgers and campbell will both be good players too, but we had a shot at BMW which was a bigger need.

FRPLG is right the Skins wanted two #1's and everyone including Miami balked.
Ramsey has a great arm, that does not make him "have the goods". Jeff "boy" George had the goods and it turned out he sucked.
Ramsey still has many deficiencies that he has not proven on the field that has overcome. His main one I had a problem with in prior years is he hangs on to the ball too long.
We can agree to disagree about Ramsey, but he is not yet a good QB. I agree with Matty72 lets wait until after this season to make a judgement on Ramsey.

Shouldn't you take steps in the right direction? The offense went backwards in PPG and the defense was improved by an amazing defensive coordinator. Last years team was much more talented than the team we put on the field the year before yet they still couldn't get it done. To me the Win/Loss columns don't matter as much as the strides we've taken to improve. Like every coach that comes through I give them a 3 year grace period to get their guys and their system in place -- however, that doesn't mean you shouldn't voice your opinion. I often see Well I think X but I have to concede my opinion to GIbbs because he knows more than me. That's really no suprise, he knows more than all of us together, but the point of sites such as this one are to discuss things like that and understand both sides of an argument.

In good news the attitude has changed around Redskins park, but the real test will come if we have a dismal record about 1/2 way into the year if the players have the same tone.

1 year? Let's see how bout John fox, Bill Belichik, John Gruden, As Parcell's stated last season we had the most talent in the division, and take a good look what Parcells did with a lousy cowboy team his first year, no way he had anywhere's near the talent we have, no way Quincy Carter is remotly as talented as Ramsey.

Lombardi? In today's NFL? I don't see why he couldn't do it in a year? He turned around green bay instantly without free agency, imagine what he could do with it.

In today's NFL a team can turn around in a heartbeat, the 5 year plan is a thing of the past, as Daseal put it we became more talented last season and went backwards offensivly.

As far as everyone who likes to jump on the Ramsey hold's the ball to long bandwagon, somebody please show me when he remotly has had time to actually hold the ball the last 3 year's? Couple that with the simplistic pass patterns we were running and you get a beatup QB.

We had much more talent last year than the year before? Defensively, absolutely. Offensively, we added Portis and Cooley and for all intents and purposes lost Jansen. There weren't wholesale changes from one year to the next. Not that I recall

Coaches who are wildly successful in their first seasons are exceptions to the rule.

Change takes time, especially when you're talking about a coach coming back to the league after so long away.

The last time we saw something similar was with Vermeil, and look at what he went through his first couple seasons, they were ready to ship him out when he finally turned the corner with the Rams.
