JoeRedskin 08-10-2005, 03:10 PM I just tried to post over at Extreme to say how displeased I was with the takeover, how they were selling out, and how this was just an attempt by Little Danny Snyder to act as the Redskin's thought police.
I was unable to post the message, an icon of LDS appeared on my computer and spread a virus throughout my company, my personal computer at home spontaneously exploded, all my credit cards were charged to their limit and mysteriously cancelled, my toilet no longer flushes, the mailman avoids my home except to deliver poorly wrapped plain brown packages with no return address, and my dog bit me.
I smell a conspiracy.
[J/K - I did not post at Extreme]

LOL
Ok, i Have a clearer conept now of what occurred, and yes I believe the front office will have full control over content. Notice the sub-headlien fo the press release...
Team Acquires Extremeskins.com,
web's most popular Redskins fan site That speaks volumes about control.
Yep the Redskins now own extremeskins, but the moderators will supposedly run the show. Should be interesting to see how long that lasts and to what degree.
That Guy 08-10-2005, 03:26 PM was any money paid or are the ES.com modss going to get any salary etc?
from what i've read they get to go to closed practices, but they have to stand way back from the real reporters, and they also get new servers/hosting provided by the redskins.
Do they get any ad revenue? is that going to go to the skins now since they're hosting it?
I don't really understand the point i guess. If they wanted more interaction, they could host chats and interviews among the various fan sites (or just ES) without needing to "merge"
all that ES is going to get out of this is even more haters and trolls like the tampa bay forums (hosted by the team) get... its just flooded with trash talk.
TheMalcolmConnection 08-10-2005, 03:32 PM We'll see how long this lasts...
I feel a disillusionment coming along soon...
EternalEnigma21 08-10-2005, 04:54 PM I did go to extremeskins for a little while, but just to search and download their video clips. They have some nice content, but I'm betting that if they don't get express consent from the NFL and whatever network the game was on whoever is making these highlight videos won't be able to post them on a sit owned by a team.

Somewhere there is a delete button hard at work
LOL
Gmanc711 08-10-2005, 05:18 PM Whatever. I smell sellouts as well. I'm intersted to find out (if we ever do) actually whats going on with it. The actual contractual agreements and stuff that are going on. I've never been a huge fan of the site, even though I post over there every now and again. Maybe the Redskins will get rid of all that cluttering BS.
Paintrain 08-10-2005, 06:28 PM Does that mean I will get a headache each time I go to Redskins.com like I do with Extremeskins horrific color scheme?
JWsleep 08-10-2005, 06:42 PM I don't mind extreme--there's good camp reports and some of the guys (especailly the mods) make good posts.
But it's tolerable mainly because I know I can come back here and discuss football--over there, it's a madhouse, especially when it's a hot topic.
35,000 is a huge number of memebers, and that's only going to go up. Glad we've got this board, Matty and Mods. It's like the VIP room in a bumping club. Out on the main floor (extreme) there's flashing lights, wild noise, and druken fights. In here behind the velvet rope, the power players smoke cubans and decide the fate of the world. Or something like that! ;)
