You MIGHT have been able to think that about TO, but come on!
Gardner to PanthersTheMalcolmConnection 07-28-2005, 03:29 PM You MIGHT have been able to think that about TO, but come on! EternalEnigma21 07-28-2005, 03:30 PM Hell, I'm hoping Dyson doesnt make the first team. No offense to the guy, but seriously, we have young guys that I really want to see preform in McCants and Jacobs; we have vetaran speedsters in Moss and Patten, we have James thrash who plays the game with more heart than most anyone I've ever seen, and has anyone heard anything about that reciever we worked out from the NFLE?? Or was that the arena league?? Anyway reading the panther's fans reactions to getting gardner is pretty interesting... one even called him more talented than the moose. LMAO. BigSKINBauer 07-28-2005, 03:58 PM really in my opinion, i wouldn't mind him on our team had he not been a d-bag. He can produce, but his d-bag qualities, his 50/50ness and the cap help, was more of a positive to release rather than to keep him CrazyCanuck 07-28-2005, 07:57 PM that means we get 2$mill in cap space back to pay for our rookie 1st rounders... and we're responsible for the 1.5$ thats left (so we bought a 6th round draft pick for 1.5$mill)... We save $2.1M in salary and we incur a deadcap charge for Gardner in 2005. My sheets say $660K but it may be closer to $1.2M. Don't think it's as high as $1.5M though. coachdavid 07-28-2005, 08:01 PM My understanding is that the best we can hope for is a 6th. To get a 5th would mean he makes the pro bowl. A 6th means that he starts over 70% of their games or plays in a high % of their offensive plays. Prediction: 6th rounder. Now, we must get all draft picks signed and in camp. PSUSkinsFan21 07-29-2005, 09:15 AM Yeah Matty, getting a 7th rounder for a former 1st round pick really changes my opinion of the front office. You are sooo right, I should shut my mouth, whatever was I thinking? This is nothing to high five each other about, its a sad day really as a first round pick hits the door for next to nothing. Gardner has real talent and he'll do well in Carolina. So much "real talent" that after being on the market for about 6 months the best offer the Redskins got was a sixth round pick. And by implication, does the whole "former 1st round pick" analysis mean that the Ealges have a worse front office than us because they let Fraudie Mitchell go outright and received nothing in return? I'm not sure I see the point there. It's not like where you are drafted is a guarantee that you'll be worth your salt in the NFL. That's like saying Joey Harrington is worth a higher pick in a trade than Tom Brady because Harrington was a former first rounder and Brady was a 7th. Sorry, I just don't see the connection. NCSkinfan 07-29-2005, 11:20 AM I am amazed that he passed the physical. The Doctors in Carolina must not be paying attention if they didn't realize that his hands are attached at the ends of the wrong arms. Having your left hand at the end of your right arm and vice versa enables one to make amazing catches half of the time and explains why one would drop the ball when it hits one in the hands the rest of the time. Think about it, would you be able to catch a football with the backs of both of your hands? i doubt it...but you could make some amazing grabs when the ball was in some awkward position relative to your body. This condition is medically described as "assbackward manipulitis" skinsguy 07-29-2005, 12:00 PM So much "real talent" that after being on the market for about 6 months the best offer the Redskins got was a sixth round pick. By the logic of a player being worth more just because he was a first rounder, then that means Heath Shuler was priceless! LOL PSUSkinsFan21 07-29-2005, 01:32 PM By the logic of a player being worth more just because he was a first rounder, then that means Heath Shuler was priceless! LOL  PantherXtreme 07-29-2005, 08:19 PM I'm going to agree with the first part of your statement. I mean Dyson comes in for us and we all expect him to contribute, but how much do we REALLY think he will? I mean at least we aren't saying he is the missing piece to our Super Bowl team. Because you don't have a missing piece; you have a bunch of PIECES? The Panthers on the other hand are primed for a return; just two seasons removed from the big show. We practically have the same core players, we were decimated by injuries last year at the beginning of the 2004 which short-circuited our season early but we rebounded late in the end and fell one game short of the playoffs. This off-season the Panthers FO hasnt basically through FA and the draft filled every weakness we had comming into the season. This team is more complete on paper than the one that made it the Superbowl in 2003. One of the few question-marks we had after loosing Moose was depth at the WR position. Which has been answered now with the aquisition of Gardner he also brings a big, physical presence to complement speedster Smith and Colbert we lacked after Moose's departure. We just need him to be Moose-like no-ones asking him to put up Moose numbers we have Steve Smith back for that. He's just another big target for Jake and another weapon for the Panthers SUPERBOWL run. Thanks, for another one guys!!! |
