Looking over the TE's coming out this year some see fairly impressive, Ben watson, and jason peter could both be had anywhere in the 2nd to 3rd rd, watson would seem to be more of a Gibb's guy, he is smart and humble, by the way he also benches 565lbs. and run's on average 4.41, he's 6'3" and weigh's 258lbs, the book on him is he need's to refine his blocking a little, right now he relies on brute strength, as for peter's he's 6'4" and weigh's 336lbs, he did 25 rep's on the bench, has good hand's, but is considered a devostating blocker, essentially a third tackle, he also run's a 4.80, physically he sound's like a perfect fit at TE for us, 1 draw back is he was suspended a game for a disiplinary problem don't know the extent of that, with both these guy's avail. in the 2nd rd and beyond should we kill ourselves trying to get both winslow and taylor, winslow does come with a lot of bagage, essentially he has a REAL BIG MOUTH! don't know if he will mesh with Gibb's? as well can we really utilize him to the best of his abilities? both peter's and watson can play either TE or H-back where the job of the TE is to block first and block second as well, as for the H-back his job is to block first then maybe catch a pass occasionally, I think if we deal off gardner and our #1 next year we should be able to obtain some pick's in the 2nd and 3rd rd's as well as keep the cap in perspective, I really think at this point this is a much more realistic option we could also get a big D-linemen with this scenerio. well what do you think? as well maybe somebody here has seen watson and peter's play and can shed some more light on them.

I think that Taylor is the way to go. In retrospect maybe we should have taken Mike Doss last year and gotten our safety but that's in the past. We have a chance now to get an even better safety and I think that would do wonders for our defense

KW2 is definitely a great talent but I don't think that his position is as pressing a need for the Skins right now. As for his attitude, Joe Gibbs would probably be able to handle him considering the close relationship he has with his father from their days together in San Diego. So really, it's not attitude problems that dissuade me from picking Winslow it's, as Offiss asks, do we really need him?

I think for once the Redskins should keep their picks for next and just see what they end up with.

Do we really need a TE or S that bad at all? No. What we're doing is getting the best available talent, which there is a lot of this year. A TE that makes defensive coordinators cringe and a Safety that makes receivers and O Coordinators stay out of the middle.

Either way I think we win with these guys. As far as Winslow wanting the ball all the time, I don't think so, he said it once when they were losing, and Miami really didn't exactly have talent stockpiled at WR. They have Rosco Parrish who kinda reminds me of Santana Moss, but besides him really nobody (I now fear the wrath of skinscanes). Winslow can block and will do it well, not to mention when he get's the ball he will make big gains. I think one thing that would have helped the skins last year is an excellent TE. Someone who can get the ball and make the other team pay for blitzing, a quick dump off to Winslow who will go to the outside and burn them. Winslow has the ability to go around or through, which makes him devestating.

In the poll, I voted for Taylor. It's a hard choice, but he puts devastating blow after devestating blow on opponents. I really think that both of these guys would help us A LOT, but Taylor would shore up our secondary, which I think is a nice thing to have. He is able to effect both or run and pass defense and coordinators have to scheme around him and LaVar.

I agree Taylor levels people and causes fear. All the things Bowens supposedly does.

I'm a member of the 'Draft Sean Taylor Club' -- unless there's an unbelievable trade offer. Sure, if we wind up with some sort of scenario with multiple picks in the first or second round, then there's Ben Troupe of Florida, Ben Watson of Georgia, Ben Utecht of Minnesota, (man, that's a lot of "Bens") and Bo Scaife of Texas who are all top prospects and could be available later on. I've never thought Kellen Winslow Jr. was that big of a need for us, especially now with a Gibbs offense.

Another part of me sees a huge question mark with Byron Chamberlain, injury issues with Robert Royal, and suitable depth behind Walter Rasby. We could use another TE somewhere in the mix, but there are other pressing needs well above tight end that need to be addressed in the draft. We also have Leonard Stephens on the roster -- I liked what I saw of him a couple of years ago in preseason. He'll most likely get a chance to make a decent contribution.

I just feel that Gibbs can bring out much more than many other coaches in a TE even if they're aquired through undrafted free agency.

Here is a question I pose to The Sean Taylor backers...

If we are able to pick up NE's 2 first round picks plus a second rounder for the 5th pick of draft which is the trade that is being reportly offered to Detroit, would you guys rather have the following players or Sean Taylor...

Ben Watson
Sean Jones
Chad Lavalais

All of these guys will be available at 21, 32 and 56 pick respectively and I have watched closely due to being a huge SEC and UGA fan and all I believe are bona fide NFL players. Would they make the impact that one Sean Taylor will... thats really not a fair question because I truely believe that filling 3 spots on your football team with good to potientially All Pro type players beats the hell out of getting just one top 3 Free Safety in the game.

Just food for thought...

Nah, I think Watson could be a possibility, but that's about it. I understand your affinity for UGA players, but if we drop to the mid-to-late first round, we'd better go with defensive linemen. DE David Pollack could be a possibility as a Bulldog though (if he's declared himself eligible - I don't really know).

I'm sure that a couple from the group of Randy Starks, Antwan Odom, Tommie Harris, or Darnell Dockett will be available in that range you mentioned. Bob Sanders from Iowa will be ranked before Jones, too.

Winslow's potential agent problems scares me a bit, the last thing we need is a camp holdout.

Gibbs has always been able to make lemonade out of lemons, exhibit A - Timmy Smith. I think we need more help on the defensive side than on offense. We haven't had a safety of note here since, uh, (struggling), um, and er ah, Alvin Walton? Ugh, I give up. I want a big hitter, a guy with range who makes quarterbacks pay for those errant throws over the middle. Ohalete.

All that said, I'd love to see K2 as the H-back in his father's offense, I mean talk about being born to play a position and for a certain coach. Can we trade Gardner and Trotter to the Lions for the 6th pick and then get 'em both? Now that I'd be in favor of.
