Grim...

I've been a skins fan and an observer here at the warpath for many years. (though this is my first post...)
I like to be an optimist, but this season looks really grim to me. The skins seem laden with excessive turmoil (uncharacteristic for our ball club over the years,) with the Gardner, Arrington, and Taylor situations...especially Taylor...what is that!!
I feel that the dynamics of the NFL have changed and there are a lot of guys just out for themselves and a big paycheck (all over the NFL and not necessarily just with the skins.)
What happened to the good old days with guys like Joe Jacoby, playing with a broken hand in that big old club cast?! Or Darrel Green running back that punt against the bears with a broken rib?! Guys who really wanted to play and win...
I have faith in the defense...and I'm glad we got rid of Smoot as I think he's one of the paycheck guys I referred to above...(but always questioned losing Champ Bailey.)
I think our offensive line is weak, and our recievers are nothing exceptional. I think Portis is arrogant (have you seen this guy on BET or any other outlet?!!) and I just don't know that Gibbs (though he's truly a class act...Look at his accomplishments!!) can rally this group...and at that if they really want to win....all of this, and a more or less "rookie" at the helm...(the team's leadership position)???
I love the skins but don't have a good feeling about the upcoming season. Somebody help me see things in a new light?

Basically to put to rest everything you said...

The offseason PROBLEMS that you state we are having are basically centered around Taylor. Evidence and facts are pointing to him getting off scott-free. Gardner was waiting to happen and has since been replaced with Patten, a proven scoring threat, Moss (when healthy) converts nearly half his touches into first downs and others. Arrington has already stated that he's trying to work things out directly with the management and not through a medium, which means he's trying to work things out. I just think he's too proud to go down without a fight.

Last year Brandon Noble played most of the year with that huge club you spoke of and Randy Thomas worked through injuries JUST to get back on the field. Unless ALL the things we've heard directly from the Skins collective mouths has been pure bullshit, EACH player has bought into the team-first mentality.

Our offensive line is one of the top lines in the game. How is it weak? Even people who are biased against us have said we will have more of the dominant lines in the game.

Portis became one of our biggest leaders in the offseason. He is the one starting the team-first mentality. Arrogant on BET? Fine. Arrogant on the football field? Fine too, as long as you back it up.

You have to quite reading what all of the so called sport writers are saying. Just read one and you have read them all. Camp was replaced and we did not miss a beat at CB and if I'm correct Springs had more interceptions than Bailey. Portis from what I have seen of him does not seem that arrogant and seems to be a team player. Its great to have a back with a bad year with over 1300 yards rushing. Ramsey is not a rooky he is in his fourth year in this league. If your are talking about Campbell then I dout you are a Redskin fan because you do not know that Ramsey is our starter. The turmoil in players is Gardner he is gone , Arrington will play his heart out for the fans and will work things out with the front office, Taylor, there have been alot of teams with players in legal trouble and they were just fine. Maybe this will kick Taylors ass and he will get his act together if not let the chips will fall where they fall. I think the media makes things like this more of an issue than they are THATS THEIR JOB.I think the Skins will have their best year sence 1999 and will make a wild card spot. All we need is our D to play as good as last year and our O to score one more TD a game than last. That sounds like alot but look how poor they played last year and we were in almost every game to the end. Look at all the players we have brought in on special teams that will add a win or two by itself. Its time for no more doom and gloom and just get excited for another year of FOOTBALL!

Amen Brother! We will have a much better line with Jon Jansen returning, & even if Mr. (false Start) Dockery sucks, insert Ray Brown, guard is his natural position anyway! Plus we added casey rabach at center, then you still have samuels, & thomas. Barring no injuries we will have 1 big ass burly line that will be a throw back 2 our glory years. Go Buges!!!!
About our receivers, Laverneous can take his injured toe & STICK IT UP HIS ASSSSSSS! IF YOU DON'T WANT TO PLAY HEAR GET THE HELL OUT!!!
& YOU WERE RIGHT ABOUT PATTEN, & MOSS. JUST THINK IF TAYLOR JACOBS HAS A BREAKOUT YEAR AND THEN YOU HAVE DARNERIAN MCANTS JUST SITTING THERE. & NOT TO MENTION CHRIS COOLEY, WE COULD HAVE A NICE 4 OR 5 WIDE RECEIVER SET. NOT TO MENTION BY ADDING PATTEN & MOSS OUR RECEING CORE GOT A WHOLE LOT SMARTER, & WHY IN THE HELL HAS NO ONE MENTIONED KEVIN DYSON, HE'S NO IDIOT, HE'S BEEN IN BIG GAMES.
i REALLY LIKE THE BIG BACKS WE ADDED IN THE DRAFT. THEY SHOULD GIVE US SOME DEFINETE PUNCH RIGHT UP THE GUT. & IF ANY OF THEM CAN ACTUALLY RUN WITH THE BALL LOOKOUT. GIBBS DIDN'T WIN 3 SUPERBOWLS BECAUSE HE THINKS HE KNOWS HOW TO BUILD AND RUN A TEAM, IT'S BECAUSE HE CAN! & HE WILL! i WILL BE SHOCKED IF WE DON'T MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. i DIDN'T EVEN TALK ABOUT OUR DEFENSE YET. JUST THINK ABOUT THIS WE HAD THE #2 RATED D-FENSE IN THE WHOLE FRICKIN LEAGUE. & THAT WAS WITHOUT LAVAR FOR AT LEAST WHAT 10 GAMES, & TAYLOR MISSED SOME TOO. OUR SECONDARY IS SO GOOD IT'S SCARY, OUR LINEBACKERS WILL STICK IT TO YOU, & OUR D-LINE WILL GET SOME MUCH NEEDED PUSH, & STOP THE RUN. IN CLOSING WHEN ANY TEAM COMES TO PLAY IN OUR HOUSE, COME & GET SOME! & WHEN WERE ON HE ROAD WE BETTER BRING AT LEAST 40,000 CASES OF CHEESE CAUSE THE HOME TEAM WILL NEED THE CHEESE WITH ALL THE "WINE"-ING FROM THE FANS!
PEACE OUT....

Why are we even entertaining this?

The sad truth. We are all junkies. This is the worst faze there is. We know the fix is near. We are all shaking, throwing up, and seeing babies crawl on the ceiling. Sad how powerful this drug has become to us. Let's keep our cool guys. We can make it a few more weeks. One day at a time. My name is Dave, and I'm a Skinsaholic.
