I dont know if anyone else noticed this, but I noticed that there seemed to be more team camaraderie. I mean if you were to watch any highlight film from last year, it seems that the players were eager to congraulate our player when they scored a touchdown. They actually made it a point to do so. As in past I can remember seeing our players score a touchdown and thats it, they walk back to the bench with maybe 1 or 2 guys being happy that we just got a touchdown. I think that when the team mates get excited and congratulate each other after a touchdown it shows team sportmanship, team camaraderie, and team characture...

It may be better for you 81forHOF if you tried being cautiously optomistic as opposed to making bold predictions. I have a Brother who talks a lot of smack too. Every year he boldly predicts what the team is going to do and when we fail to reach his objectives he's left every Monday morning dreading going to work because he has to face the music. I've tried to encourage him to chill and not "bragg" so much, betting, and loosing his money. I have learned through the years how to be an optomist without going overboard thereby keeping my emotions in check. Every year in the NFL is different. every Sunday is different, and naturally I think we are going to win every game we play though I know that's not being realistic. However I've found this to be a safe way of maintaining my sanity over the course of a sixteen game season.

Honestly, I think it's quite natural for a Skins fan to be overly optimistic, even unrealistic. Who thought George Allen and the "Over the Hill Gang" would have played against the only perfect team in NFL history in the Super Bowl? Who would of thought that John Riggins, who at that time many would have had you to believe was past his prime, along with the shortest receiving corps in the NFL(smufs) to a Super Bowl victory in the closing minutes? Who would of thought that a resurrected Doug Williams, playing on a bum knee, and one-game wonder Timmy Smith would blow out the Denver Broncos....My point is our rich tradition and awesome history has somewhat contributed to our misguided expectations. It's not like we're living in Cincy or New Orleans....or even Philly where they have no Super Bowl trophies. Whether it's been over a decade or not, winning is in our DNA!!!! Hail to the Redskins!!!!! Forever!!!!

Some interesting responses. And no, I'm not a philly fan. Far from it. I've just been pretty frustrated since about Brad Johnson's last season with the team...(2001/2002 I think...)

The last couple of years have really sucked. (though I still watched most every game...). Saying that they sucked doesn't make you any less of a fan.

2 things concern me (in addition to the comments I made in my original post...)

I think I heard somewhere that Gibbs had mentioned something similar to, "If it doesn't happen this year, I'll walk away."

I like Gibbs alot, and I'd hate to see him go. We'd really be hurting then...

second, though I'd like to be as optimistic as most of the rest of you...I ask you this question...would you put a lot of money on them making the playoffs? I lost a box of arturo fuente chateaus last season...that hurt! I'm not so sure I'd throw another bet out there like that again this season.

I certainly hope we can pull it together this season...

What is/are arturo fuente chateaus? Secondly, I am looking for an online place where I can toss down a couple bucks on the skins making the playoffs and the super bowl...

I've never heard Gibbs say anything about leaving after this year...

In fact all he's said is that he's committed to the terms of his contract which is 5 years.
