I am a serious Aerosmith fan so I guess I am a little biased but the have been around as long as the Stones and have more hits and sold more US records than any of the other bands discussed. They have sold out more shows than the others. Until someone else lasts for 32 years and still generates the fandom they do no one can put anyone above them. Welcome to the Jungle is one of my pre-game songs. skinsfanthru&thru 07-07-2005, 07:10 PM Van Halen is #1 and Aerosmith, Metallica, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Eagles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Doors, REM, and Nirvana are also leaps and bounds better rock bands than Pearl Jam and I like Pearl Jam. and am I the only one who think the Grateful Dead and Kiss are 2 of the most overrated bands? I like some of their stuff but they should never be in the talks when ranking "great" bands. I have to say I really dig some of their old stuff (haven't heard any of the new), but I didn't think anyone else listened to them. Apparently I was wrong, but putting them ahead of Metallica, The Doors, Allmans, Springsteen, and Skynyrd? I don't think so. BDBohnzie 07-07-2005, 10:50 PM to me, Pearl Jam is a niche band, just as KISS, Grateful Dead, Jimmy Buffett...there are certain people who love them, some that tolerate, and some that don't care for them. Rockers like Aerosmith, the Stones, Van Halen, et al. are rock bands that stand the test of time, and relate to more than one generation. depending on the flow of music, my kids may find other interests besides Pearl Jam. the funny thing about polls like this is it's not really that they think Pearl Jam is #1, but that they can defend it easiest (generation), and allows people to talk about it and debate.
