One Hour Special on the Redskins RIGHT NOW!mooby 06-21-2005, 07:09 PM sorry i didn't say this earlier, but right now from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. they are doing a special on the redskins on nfl network. this might be the only time they are showing it so you might wanna watch. GoSkins! 06-21-2005, 08:25 PM Tell us what they said............ monk81 06-21-2005, 08:53 PM I came in late but saw Ed Sabol's interview with Bobby Mitchell who did an impersonation of his coaches and their style..........he got Gibbs down pat :laughing- they really did Mitchell dirty in the Redskin organization.....passing him by for important tasks and instead of GM or coach.....he became the Redskins Representative that went to all the luncheons and speaking engagements, or was appointed the organization's secretary. But Mitchell said he never had the desire to be the GM or Coach.....he had a great life, and he enjoyed making the people around him better. A TRUE REDSKIN. He finally retired from the Redskins in 2003................. On the show after that......the TOTAL ACCESS show......they were talking about rookies most likely to make an immediate impact and none other than Carlos Rogers name came up :) MTK 06-21-2005, 09:04 PM I'm surprised that Gibbs hasn't reached out to Bobby Mitchell, or maybe he has and we haven't heard about it. Sean"Big Hurt"Taylor 06-21-2005, 09:26 PM Yeah, Carlos Rogers will probably be the defensive rookie of the year with defense giving him chances to make plays. Just think if Taylor would have played the whole season his stats would be incredible for a rookie. Any rookie lucky to start in a gw-run defense will get their share of chances to be famous it is up to them. I don't know about the rest of you but im very excited about our team this year. With that speedy offense we have and this defense will should go to the playoffs this year. If we don't than we will be a bust. Carlos Rogers will pick up from where smoot left, you can believe that. Gmanc711 06-22-2005, 01:31 AM I was hoping for more of the modern (Gibbs Era) stuff when I read this and went down to watch it. However, I really enjoyed the interview they had with Bobby Mitchell, it was really interesting to hear his story; how he got traded and some of the hardships he faced being an African American Athlete, the first on the Redskins. He seemed like a really good guy on top of that, its ashame he got hosed, but he didnt seem to care. TheMalcolmConnection 06-22-2005, 07:01 AM Definitely one of the best "character" players the team has ever seen... dirtbag2112 06-22-2005, 11:01 AM The first part about Gibbs almost put tears in my eyes. I personally wouldnt want any other coach in the NFL dead or alive. I remember when I worked at Manassas airport coach Gibbbs used to fly in on occasion to visit his Youth for Tomorrow in Bristow. Anyways, he was the nicest, most genuine person I've ever met. Never once did he act like he was too good or above anyone else. In that program last night it quoted Gibbs as saying "working with people is the hardest job in life, but it can also be the most rewarding." My friends at the warpath, rest assured that we're not going to win because we have the best game plan or talent on paper. We're gonna win because this man is bringing continuity, discipline, trust, love and leadership to a team certainly willing to give it all. TheMalcolmConnection 06-22-2005, 01:10 PM Very similar to the Patriots. I know people are going to be like, "Dude, WTF." But there is no reason for WTF. We may not have as proven a QB as Brady, but if Ramsey can come on strong, we have an offense strikingly similar to the Patriots. A better offensive line, a premier tailback and above all: the desire. We have a great defense just as they do and hopefully Gibbs is instilling the same fire and want that the Patriots have up in New England. Sheriff Gonna Getcha 06-22-2005, 09:57 PM Matty, I too am surprised that Gibbs, or others in the 'Skins organization, haven't reached out to Mitchell yet (at least to our knowledge). I started to forget just how important Mitchell was to our organization for so many years. Add him to the list of one of the 5 greatest Redskins. |
