Imagine paying your QB 60mil/year and go out and get trounced by the Lions. I would not have paid him that money. It would have been better to get a shit ton of draft capital and build from that. Bad teams will never learn.

You can take more chances when you feel you have a solid secondary. We're not gonna garner much or find any available pass rushers per an in-season trade without breaking the bank. We know we don't have a good secondary at this juncture. You can use a multitude of blitz schemes when you know you have a secondary that can cover.
