There is no way we are taking McCarthy at 2. No way. And if they trade out for him or Pennix we will all regret it. Do not get cute. Stick at 2. Take Maye or Daniels whoever they like better.

I know they flew out to Mich to meet him, all the draft talk lately has been about how good he is punch it in 03-25-2024, 01:22 PM I know they flew out to Mich to meet him, all the draft talk lately has been about how good he is Everything i read about the guy is basically Saying the same thing… good attitude, work horse, chip on shoulder but weak long ball problems with progressions etc. So now everyone wants to say well Michigan quarterback who has untapped potential with a great work ethic- omg its Tom Brady. Lol. Sorry he isn’t half as gifted as Caleb, Maye, or Daniels. It is a hard pass for me. After all these years of quarterback issues it has to be a “sure” thing. Is anyone ever a sure thing? Nope. Is there a chance JJ is being overlooked? Yep. Do I want to take that chance to pick up some draft capital when we have 5 other picks in the top 100 and desperately need a quarterback? Hellll nooo. Lol. sdskinsfan2001 03-25-2024, 01:41 PM J.J. McCarthy will be the best QB from this draft class. That being said, the pick is Jayden Daniels. punch it in 03-25-2024, 02:20 PM J.J. McCarthy will be the best QB from this draft class. That being said, the pick is Jayden Daniels. I am a big fan of making bold statements that cannot be shot down for a couple years. Lol. Nobody can predict the future but i do not want to walk away from the position we are in with a day two quarterback unless someone offers us such an insane amount of picks that it is impossible to say no. Everything, (new owner, best gm in years, solid FA moves made, cap space still great, 9 picks [6 in top 100], new staff, excited fan base) points towards a day one number 2 pick at quarterback. I think it will be Daniels too. sdskinsfan2001 03-25-2024, 02:23 PM I am a big fan of making bold statements that cannot be shot down for a couple years. Lol. I think it will be Daniels too. Definitely the best kind of bold statement. I got some 2048 predictions for you if you want them. The safest bet (and still a crapshoot) is to draft the guy w/ the best physical tools. That is J.D. imo. I don't trust Maye's accuracy. His short pass stats are not very good. Those need to be almost automatic in the NFL. EdmundDorf 03-25-2024, 03:01 PM Adam Peters from JP Finlay "With the guys we have in the room right now I don't think we have to rush anybody" Interesting take, saw a quote from a scout today that Maye has the highest ceiling QB in the draft but will take a lot of developing..... or just predraft smoke? Maye is 2 years younger so needs a lot more development, but aside from running speed his tools are better than Daniels imo. sdskinsfan2001 03-25-2024, 03:07 PM You mention physical tools, and then question (rightly) Maye's accuracy not the fact he has arguably better physical tools. I think his running skills gives him the overall physical tools advantage over Maye. I should have added an either to this sentence: I don't trust Maye's accuracy (either). AnonEmouse 03-25-2024, 03:20 PM I agree, although I don't feel I know enough about the prospects to have a firm opinion. My key thought is that we pick the QB that the coaching staff feel gives us the best option to succeed in our scheme, in our market (regardless of athletic talent its simply fact that they have to be sellable to the general fanbase and the media) and our team philosophy. For me, every QB we've drafted since Shuler has had me doubting they know what they are doing. This time at least I have more confidence that the combined brain trust are going to pick the right guy from those available. And more so, if he turns out not to be that guy, that they'll do what they can next year to get their guy and not hang on to a losing hand. And so on. |
