I'm not criticizing Chinn, not everyone we pick up can be an upgrade. Curl is better, far better, and I'm not the only one who thinks that, as outside of Redskins fans (since yesterday) everyone thinks that. He is a fine tackler, but he can't cover, he never could even in the 2020-2021 seasons. They used him more as a hybrid LB/SS in 2020-2021. I'm sure the coaching staff knows that and will use him appropriately.
I agree. This staff seems to have an appreciation for the value of role players.
EdmundDorf 03-13-2024, 11:32 AM The good thing is it is a deep class for Tackles, and we have plenty of draft capital to basically do what we want to get our guy(s).
Also, it's not a popular take, but they could be planning on Wylie holding down that RT spot for another year.
This is what is bugging me about the apparent lack of FA action at OT, we need 3, even if we do draft one high that still leaves 2, and I have heard some talking heads who you would assume are somewhat in the know talking like Wylie is part of the plan. If it is Wylie and a rookie starting at OT next year our rookie QB could get the crap beating out of him.
EdmundDorf 03-13-2024, 11:39 AM Spare me the thought of Wiley at RT. They could install a turnstile at RT instead.
I think they'll pick up a veteran T in FA and draft one in Round 2. They may even use some draft capital to move up into Round 1 to get one they are high on.
Also, some teams who pick a T in Round 1 may release a veteran league-average T who we could pick up.
True, but I would hope our front office isn't expecting this as part of their plan. Good chance to get an above average swing/backup, but not to count on getting a starter
KI Skins Fan 03-13-2024, 11:43 AM So when are the Commanders going to sign my man Devin White? I'd love to have a wild man in our LB group.
(BTW, I'm beginning my quest for the consecutive posts record today. This one makes three.)

Like I said, it's not a popular take on here, but we don't know how the new coaching staff feels about Wylie. I really don't think it's out of the question that he is the starting RT to begin the season. It's probably not ideal, but not out of the question.
KI Skins Fan 03-13-2024, 11:45 AM A pox on you, Dorf! Now I must begin my quest all over again. This makes one.

I'm guessing DQ sees him as a better fit for his defense and the role he wants him in.
nonniey 03-13-2024, 12:00 PM Three of the deepest positions in the draft. Brilliant.
Need to add edge as a need too (and that is also deep).
@JPFinlayNBCS
Talking with @mike_e_kaye about new Commanders LB Frankie Luvu: "That guy is a game changer and a play breaker...He is the ideal guy for a double A gap blitz...He's extremely versatile...He can really make things happens...He will disrupt the offense more than he wont."
More from
@mike_e_kaye on new Commanders LB/S Jeremy Chinn: "A guy that's a tweener safety/linebacker...A seek and destroy player that should be close to the line...Not an interchangeable safety, he should be in the box...Sometimes versatility can be the enemy of progress."

Concur with both these assessments. I think Luvu is the most sensible (ie best) signing since Fletcher. And yes that is what I've been trying to point out about Chinn.
