I have no issues with Gibbs & Harris having conversations. Think we may be making a mountain out of a mole hill here.

You really want to draft Greg Oden at QB?
4/5 college seasons ended with major injuries, both knees and shoulders blown out!
He hit the superfecta of injuries.

No doubt the guy can play but his injury history scares me away.

“The best ability is availability”
Bill Parcells

Preach jamf. Idc how good a player is if he can't stay healthy.

Seriously. Gibbs is a leader of men, a winner, and a righteous, humble human being. The idea that Harris could be getting taken down some wrong path by Gibbs at this juncture in their lives is ridiculous. Harris was a 30-year old fan of the team when Gibbs started winning here. Of course he relishes every chance he can get to talk to Gibbs, who is 83 and not going to be around forever.

Football is not a 21st century sport, if you know football, you know football.

Sorry to say, you are more wrong about that than you realize. Analytics is so integrated with coaching today that football may as well have been invented in the 21st Century. Analytics is based on facts which have disproved many traditional assumptions about game management, player acquisitions and more. Furthermore, it is clear that the new owners intend to move forward with implementing a strong analytics role within the football operations side of the business.

Not so much facts, but numbers certainly, what "facts" are gleaned from the numbers is dependant on how good the person doing the analysis is.

For those of you who are excitedly humping Penix's leg, he is not a possible Franchise QB. Both Williams and Maye are better prospects, IMO. So there!

Regardless of our varying opinions, I just want to be able to have faith that our new football executives will be able to identify the best QB for us and, if they believe he is the one they want to build around, they will do what it takes to get him.

Of course you're right about that. When Eugene Shen worked with Baltimore and Miami he and others from the analytics staffs worked hand-in-glove with coaches, scouts, and FO executives. They were staff to all of those people and the people they advised made the decisions. For the data analysis to be helpful to the decision makers they needed to buy into the value of the analytics staff work. As in any organization, for anything to work the CEO must believe in it and support it. Our new CEO is a strong believer in data analytics and he uses it extensively as a tool in his other two sports franchises.

BTW, Eugene Shen's education:

AB, Applied Math with Economics Harvard University 1993

MBA, MIT Sloan School of Management 1998
