I was hoping to see what he would do with this staff, but I trust that they will bring in the players they need for the defense they want to run. If he fits the bill, I'm sure they will try to bring him back. If not, or the price is too high - sayonara.

Me too, instead of being asked to play 5 positions, how would he do just playing one? I suspect they looked at the film and decided if he's affordable we'll resign him, but there's nothing he's shown last year that justifies top money, let alone tagging. Just niggles at me thinking are his best years to come and if so, are we throwing out the baby with the bath water. OTOH if they draft a replacement that is just as good if not better, then we've saved some cap space for use elsewhere. Who'd want to be an NFL GM? 🤔😁

Me!! Sign me up!! lol . . . I'd could retire off of one year of Peters salary. Wouldn't care if I got fired after year 1.

“It’s like you went to a new team,” guard Sam Cosmi said. “It’s definitely a breath of fresh air.”

Khaleke Hudson to the Saints. He never seemed to be able to get PT beyond special teams.

Our LB situation is so different - Davis is the only holdover I think. And it had only one direction to go.

The OL, LB, DE, and QB positions will be entirely or nearly entirely made over. Crazy. Cosmi isn’t wrong.

Secondary needs a makeover too. If Forbes and BSJ aren’t correctable with different coaching it will be an entire one….we should come away from the draft with a Corner and Safety.

Can’t disagree although coaching was so bad I have to think they could be a bit better, whereas the OL and LB spots in particular had very little talent last year. This draft is supposed to be deep for OL, QB and CB, which is a relief given the depth of need.

It’s hard to overstate how bare a roster Rivera left behind. Like Cerrato level bad.

so Washington hired Dave Gardi as the team’s senior vice president of football initiative

Sounds like a guy who knows the business of football, but also a name we fans will never hear again [emoji1787]

The team announcement fleshes it a bit:
https://www.commanders.com/news/washington-commanders-name-dave-gardi-senior-vice-president-of-football-initiatives

He certainly has a good pedigree.

2 things came to my mind
1) Is there a reason he's not advanced up the league office ladder (he's been there a while)? Is this therefore a sideways/change of scenery move for him?
2) Someone should proofread these releases better - "Gardi is married to his wife, Michele, and they have two children Chase and Grayson." OK, it's picky, but who else is he going to be married to other than his wife? 😁
