Why don't we just trade Sean Taylor for Ed Reed? They both want new contracts. BAL isn't keen on paying out any more dough to satisfy Reed and have demonstrated that they will give players with courtroom and/or jail time a new leash on NFL life. We really don't know how it's possible, but WSH has the deep pockets to re-sign Reed now. And Taylor's contract, as it right now, is very tradeable. BAL has depth in thier secondary (w/ Deion Sanders) to compensate for losing Taylor for a few games due to suspension and if ST does some time, they will be waiting for him at the gate with open arms. :oink:

the cap penalty for taylor would be like $5 million, which would go on our cap next year because its past june first. Even without that we probably cant afford reed anyway. And next year were going to need that $5 million

Maybe I've missed something here, but when has Taylor or Rosenhaus said that a new contract is needed for him to be on the field this year?
Because he has not attended voluntary sessions does not mean that he is demanding a new contract.
Also, I don't think we could afford to trade ST (take an immediate cap hit), sign Reed, and also sign our unsigned rookies. I just don't see this happening.

it want happen and i don't think that it should happen. reed is a great player but he does not strike fear into opposing wideouts like taylor does on a regularly basis. taylor fits our defense better and actually he is faster than reed. i still would prefer taylor maybe im crazy but as far as the future goes taylor will be a beast.

This thread is a great example of having a little too much time on your hands and suffering thru the offseason. Why don't we trade Jason Campbell to San Diego for Drew Brees and Portis to the Dolphins for Ricky Williams while we're at it because Ricky is a "Gibbs" style back (whatever that means). See...we can create all kinds of nonsense...hee hehhee.

Well that would be nice, but Baltimore would be crazy to do somthing like that. Ed Reed is the best defensive player in the NFL today, and might be the best player in the NFL. His postiion really brings down the argument for him, but he is an amazing athlete. While Sean Taylor has proven to be a quality player, he is nothing more than that AT THIS POINT. Taylor still has a long way to go before he is the difference maker that Ed Reed is right now.
