I know many of you want Peters as GM, I favor Kyle Smith who the 49ers almost sign to replace John Lynch a few years back. Peters is a Bay area native from Cupertino and might not want to move East.

Kyle Smith, Falcons VP of player personnel: Having worked in Washington, Smith, the 38-year-old son of former Chargers GM A.J. Smith, was poached by Terry Fontenot two years ago to be the new Atlanta GM’s top assistant, and others have come in and tried to poach Smith from Fontenot. A very well-respected evaluator who went from scout to college director to VP of player personnel in D.C. in 10 years, Smith was considered a strong candidate to replace John Lynch in San Francisco, had Lynch gone to TV last year—which speaks to the respect former Washington offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan has for his work.

I'd forgotten about Smith. Should be in the conversation.

Dream scenario, Kyle Smith and Sean McVay ( it’s not going to happen, he’s under contract till 2026 w/ rams). I think Mc Vay is the best coach in the NFL, rams have done an 80% roster turnover and they are in every game, they will sneak into the playoffs and will make some noise.

Former Steelers GM Kevin Colbert is out there. Very possible Harris has already been leaning on him for advice.

Nope, Marty Hurney who I hope is gone with the rest.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about it, I think the whole front office will be cleaned out.

I've got no problem with Harris leaning on Hurney, it's only natural when you're new to an organization to find someone to glean info from. Doesn't necessarily mean much beyond that.

I have a problem when Hurney said a 2nd rounder for Sweat is a great deal, should have gotten a 1st rounder or kept him. Sweat has 10 sacks and counting.

It's not what he's worth, it's what he's worth when you sell him. With 1-2 years on a contract I'd agree, but nobody was giving up a 1st for an impending FA. They had to offer a 2nd AND pony up for a big new contract.

Then you keep him and resign him or tag him, we had the $$$.

Maybe they had a sense Sweat was going to test the market and be outta here anyway.

But it is obvious that Harris didn't want this. It was reported that the coaches wanted to keep Sweat, but they were overruled by ownership.
