Hi first off i am new here, i have been coming here just read all the post never posted untill today.

Yea i think Ramsey will start this year, Then in 2006, or who knows maybe in the season Jason Campbell gets the keys.

I just dont see it in Ramsey .Basically if we had a good QB Redskins with that defense we should have made the playoffs.

I know last year Joe Gibbs offense was old slow, and we wasted time outs. But i feel ramsey didnt play that well.He had too many turnovers sacks thats costed us wins.

Plus i know Gibbs did not trade 4 pick to draft Campbell and just seat him.But who knows? i am only a fan.

And i know Portis is going to break out this season gibbs going to add more zone and stretch blocking for portis who avg 5 yards a carry with them.

And i am looking for taylor Jacobs and Mccants to really step up too.

carlos Rogers will step,so will Wilds.
And Sean Taylor and Matt Bowen will be ready.
I am just so excited about the 2005 season cant wait. Even for the preseason that shoul dbe alot of fun too.

GO REDSKINS

I am not sure if Ramsey is our long term QB.At first when he came into the league and he got some PT between Shane Matthews and Danny Awful I thought he could be the real deal, but since then he has not progressed much. He still looked brilliant last year compared to Brunell but when I was watching some highlights and taped games from the season he was still making rookie mistakes. My biggest problem with him is his inability to check off WR's. There were several times where he went to the short WR on 3rd and long and had open WR's to get the first down. I understand the play calling did not help him any but you have to see things like that. I hate to bring this up but he reminds me so much of Zack Mills from PSU. He came into the system and looked promising in the begining (Mills his freshman year taking over for LB/QB Matt Seneca and Ramesy getting time because Matthews and Danny were terrible) but then they never really progressed. As a PSU and Redskins fan last year killed me....both teams had great D's, terrible play calling, and stupid mistakes by the QB, it was like watching the same team on Saturday and Sunday!!! I am not saying that Mills is anywhere near as good as Ramsey but they are similar at their respective levels. I am willing to bet that Ramsey will have one more year (this year) to prove himself and if he doesn't we will see why Gibbs loved Campbell so much.

First off, welcome to the board portistothehouse.

Ramsey has been a frequent topic of debate this offseason. Try doing some searches on the board and you'll see plenty of discussions.

Here's some recent ones to get you started

Since your new I'll say it again. Take away that Giants game and Ramsey was extremely efficient. His turnovers were way down, had a completion percentage of roughly 65% and won some games for us. I can understand why people doubt him, but rest assured you will see a big improvement with him. The main thing(s) he needs to improve are his vision and 4th quarter decision making.

The problem is you can not take away the Giants game. It was a real game. In my opinion to say Ramsey was "extremely" efficient is stretching it. He had great moments/games and some not so great moments, the sign of a young, inconsistent, inexperienced Qb that has not yet hit his stride.
He did get better at making his reads and getting rid of the ball faster.
But his touch on the short passes is still not very good. His accuracy is still inconsistant, good some moments bad in others.
He is still bad at sensing the pass rush and not being able to side step it when possible. He is such a sitting duck when there is the slightest breakdown in the protection.
His 11 int's to 10TD's is not a good stat at all. To me that is one of the most important and first stats I look at when I judge a QB. Turnovers kill.

Defense wins...3 picks in the Giants game relieving Brunell. 65% completion with recievers who liked to drop passes. 85+ passer rating in the final seven games of the season. I know that Giants game was a real game, but he was thrown into this game after everything that transpired during the season and was simply trying to pull one out at any cost. He is inconsistant at times, yes...but people seem to remember the bad more than the good. I just wish REDSKINS fans would have a little more confidence in a guy whos only had 2 seasons worth of starts.

I am sure you already know....confidence is earned, not given for free. I do remember the good, Ramsey had his best day as a pro in week 13 vs. New York Giants. He also played great in the season finale against the Vikings. But we can not ignore his weakness' when evaluating him to see if he is our franchise QB. We can not resign him to a big contract because his a great guy and he can take a hit. He needs to be a great/consistant QB as well.
We have already overpaid other nice guys that have turned out to be not very good.

To me the problem with Ramsey is that his just not that good.

I am not a coach but i have watched every redskins game ramsey played in ,hE JUST MAKES plays that make you wana to break your television in two.

Like the eagles game.giants, steelers game. Ramsey in the 1st to 3rd quarter is a ok good qb, then when the pressure goes up he does down.

But at the same time he also makes very good plays. Its like if there was a way to remove all the bad plays the sacks, ints he would be in the same class as carson palmer or chad pennington. the problem is his not that good.

His like in baseball a set up pitcher, his a back up.

COme on guys the NFL is not the hope and wish leauge. Gibbs is not a foul,if he can find someone esle that plays better than Ramsey. Ramsey is a gonner.

In 2005 if ramsey cant cut out those ints, sacks, missing wide wide WIDE OPEN wr,s down the field his out. and you cant compare ramsey to mark brunel, brunell is gone like a burnt steak, compare ramsey to chad pennington, david carr, carson palmer those guys.

People are already talking up campbell, even john clayton from espn.

Defense does win games. But if you qb, is turning the bal over 3, 4 times a game i dont care if your have the 85 bears defense you going to loss games.

The jury is still out on Patrick. He only started one full season and it was a disaster with the Spurrier (no) blocking schemes. Also, he was coached against his tendencies as a young player and taught NOT to check off receivers. 'Fun -n- Gun'. Right. Then he got hurt, has had a number of ego lumps and has really only been in a REAL nfl system for 1 year. And he got his first start last year at what, week 9 or 10? Due to all this I'm willing to give him a pass, but THIS year is it. He has to absolutely raise his level to another stratosphere. If not, "ladies and gentlemen, the quarterback of the Washington Redskins: Jason Campbell".
Doesn't Patrick only have one more year on the contract too?
