Schneed10 03-21-2023, 11:47 AM While you are basically correct, I think after 20+ years of torture and the feeling until recently that he would never sell, we may want to be a little more understanding of the desperation of some to get it over with. Although, something tells me that your response is also reflecting the emotional rollercoaster the fan base is on.
In my case I just get irritated at stupidity and I've long been dismayed at the sheer number of people in our society who get duped by fake news. This is not a phenomenon limited to sports; Trump espouses the lie that there was a conspiracy to steal the election, it gets amplified by 'news' websites like Breitbart, Info Wars, and even Fox News. And yet people believe it - despite there being no court cases in which the case isn't eventually thrown out - enough believe it to show up in numbers on January 6th threatening the peaceful transfer of power in our nation.
Our society's disturbing inability to think critically about what is real and what is fake is scary and it shows what can be done in a society without a free press. If that can happen here, imagine what is happening in Moscow and Pyongyang.
Bringing it back to football, I'd rather not see the lack of critical thought here on this site. This is supposed to be Commanders discussion for the knowledgeable fan. We should all be able to tell a credible report when we see it.

Bingo.
Schneed10 03-21-2023, 12:27 PM Another way to think of it; how many people on the internet would you be willing to give a sum of money to? If they asked you for it, what thought process would you go through, what questions would you ask? Maybe thoughts might come to mind like, what are you going to do with the money, how do I know you'll spend it the way you say you will, is this possibly a scam, etc.
When money gets involved all of a sudden more people begin to think about their actions. Think that critically about what you read. Why be any less thoughtful with your trust in the words of others than you are with your money in the hands of others?

The price of losing actual money is way higher than the price/cost of falling for something that doesn't cost you anything. I'd rather get shit here than lose 1 dollar outside of here.

mredskins 03-21-2023, 01:06 PM Prior to the Musk Twitter takeover, blue check marks indicated that the account was a verified public personality account (i.e. celebrities, journalists, politicians, etc., etc.). However, nowadays, any yahoo can pay to have a blue check on their Twitter account.
I know that that sale of the team has been covered by the financial media. But, from the sports side, this type of breaking news will only come from the likes of Schefter, Rappaport, Fowler; or local reporters like Keim, JP, Standig, or Nicki Jhabvala.
ok thank you

Without going back through the entire thread, i don't believe anyone stated with fact Josh was the new owner; it was all speculation and even the title has a question mark in it
Though I agree with your highlighted statement I am not sure that is occurring here in this thread.
I would relate the the information/ speculation in this thread to the gleeful daydreaming of a first grader about what he may get from "Santa" this coming Xmas.

BaltimoreSkins 03-21-2023, 02:04 PM Here is some related news to the Harris bid: https://www.hogshaven.com/2023/3/20/23648965/washington-commanders-sale-news-magic-johnson-joins-josh-harris-group-contracts-have-delayed-payouts
Magic Johnson joins bid. Also Commanders push off payout date for signing bonuses for two months to 5/12. Typically this is done 15-30 days of transaction date.

I think a lot of the problems stem from people believe who/what they want, as long as it fits their desires, instead of using critical thinking to get to the truth.
