How is this an upgrade? Heinicke had slightly better stats over the last two years, played a harder schedule and had a lot more success in the win/loss column. Additionally, they cost about the same when it comes to a contract. I just don't get the idea that Brisset is an upgrade. At best I see it as a wash (Heinicke's stats were only very slightly better) and that is at best, it's more likely a down grade.

Their td and int were the same. To me it is about QBR Jacoby was a solid 60 which was 8th best in league. Taylor was a woeful 44.8. I am not saying this is a send us to playoffs move but the cost versus production is worth it.

Heinicke had a 44.4 QBR last year. Brissett was miles ahead of him at 60.00.

Brissett was 8th overall, Heinicke would have been 25th if included in this list.

Overall rating, Heinicke was slightly ahead at 89.6 versus 88.9.

Not to mention, Brissett has a way better arm.

I'd take Brissett over Heinicke every day, and twice on Monday's, Thursday's, and Sunday's.

Justify with all the stats you want. Ask browns fans how they feel. Good effort, just not a good quarterback, not a playmaker, couldn't really win games

Guy was 4-7 before he got hurt. It's a team game, sure, and the browns had enough talent to be just that.

Hope he proves to be a good backup and nothing more.....

Cuz if he is starting we're screwed

Heinicke has a higher passer RTG (So everyone but ESPN would rank him higher). QBR is strictly an ESPN formula that some have criticized. Weird thing you'd think is QBR would be reflected directly with won/loss record as it is tied to points, importance of plays etc. Yet Heinicke had a much higher win/loss rate. Given that one would think Brisset would have a lower QBR.

I think by the eye test he is a better QB. But to say he is a massive upgrade? No way. Not buying that.

brisset is way ahead in kinds of categories. 8-13 vs ~23-25

we have good receivers, so getting a guy with touch that actually gets DPIs called is probably a big upgrade.

Question can you explain why you think this is an upgrade?

His arm is made of flesh and bone and not pasta?

As expected OL Tyler Larsen has agreed to a deal with Washington, per source

Very solid move too. He out played expectations when he got to see the field, position flex, very good back up.

Agreed. Hopefully he stays healthy.

Love the Brissett signing. Not only a very good back up. But also legit competition in camp for Howell. Yes if Howell is anything we hope he is he should win the job, but if he doesn't it wouldn't be a massive shocker to see Brissett start. Wouldn't be a good news cuz we would still be looking for our QB, but wouldn't shock me.
