Apparently this guy Blitzer is a hands off kind of owner and doesn't meddle as he is the owner of other sports teams. This is the guy that hopefully will get the team. He is an experienced sports owner just like Jack Kent Cooke was. He knows what it takes to build a team.

Sam Howell should...just kidding.

I'd be more than fine with him. I'm like a man lost in the desert, I'll take any drink you have! Just hand me the canteen please!!

Just sell the team Danny Boy. It will be the highlight of your ownership.

I would not give Payne a huge deal. He's only been a major beast this past year. You don't pay for 1 good year out of 5. You either let him walk or your FT and see if he can repeat it.

Except he hasn't had only 1 good year - this just happens to be great year on top of his previous good years.

His other years were good, but not "20 million a year" good.

Pay him or sign/trade him, I don't care. Just would like to get more for him than a 3rd round comp pick.

I just have anxiety in general, but with all the speculation that the league wants to get this sale done in time for the new league year, I kind of worry that every day that goes by and there isn't an announcement, that they are running out of time.

I'm a layman and obviously know nothing about the business side of something like this, but would they keep entertaining the sale after the new league year starts? Certainly the NFL wouldn't want to see a team sold mid-season, would they have to shelve it again until next off-season?

I am still of the opinion that Dan is definitely on his way out, but I guess it just comes down to timing, now.

I'm guessing the league would indeed prefer for the sale to happen before the start of the league year, but that seems like a very short dead line to meet IMO. Maybe announced, but settled and up and running by March 15th ?
I'm sure the NFL wouldn't love it, but wouldn't it be possible for the sale to happen even during the regular season, sale contract signed and all, but to be declared effective a day after the SB ?

Yes, I guess that's possible too. I could see it working as long as it happens early enough in the new year that the new Owner(s) could have time to make coaching changes, FO Decisions, etc, with a little bit of time to prepare before doing their first draft.

But maybe the new ownership keeps everyone as they are for this year, if something gets done that early. I

I think this will be done by the end of March at the latest, and I also think that there won't be any changes to the coaching staff before the start of the season - that aren't initiated by Ron. All bets are off once the season begins and the new owner(s) see the product on the field.

For players (free agency / trades) there could still be significant moves. I look at the Broncos for example. The trade for Russell Wilson was made in March and they signed a number of free agents March - May, but the new ownership wasn't settled until I think June.

I could be wrong, but I can see this being a somewhat normal offseason as far as transactions go.
