He's QB1 right now because he's the only QB. He will have one - maybe two other QBs to compete with, and he will have to win that competition to be named the starter. QB -1 in February, before free agency, the draft, and camp even begin is nothing more than a designation. Week one starter wont be named until August. It is Sams job to lose, but he could lose it. Still an advantage for Sam. Would have to really be outplayed to lose the job. If Richardson looks good throwing the ball at the combine alot of eyes are going to be on him, including our staff. Im rooting for Sam because of what Chief alluded to. It is just a pick we can use elsewhere if he balls out but I want the best possible quarterback out there week 1 and if Richardson looks great during all this hoopla and is there at 16 decisions would have to be made.
