I know you are a big Howell advocate so I'd like your take. My take with Howell is if he isn't being considered to start it is because he hasn't shown he has what it takes in practice. There is a gap either in running the offense or playbook understanding that we are not privy to knowing. The other option is that the coaching staff is stubbornly plugging along with square pegs in round holes.

My take is Ron spent $26 mil on a washed up QB and doesn’t want to be ridiculed. I know putting Howell in the SF game would like throwing him to the wolves, put him as a backup to TH and try him out if TH can’t get anything going.

Going back to Wentz with BRob in there won’t be any better than with TH. Wentz panics and overthrows or holds onto the ball and gets sacked.

Ranks cowardly punts. Washington had two on Sunday.
The first:
WSH decided to punt to NYG from the NYG 34 on 4th & 12 with 8:33 remaining in the 1st while tied 0 to 0.

With a Surrender Index of 19.18, this punt ranks at the 98th percentile of cowardly punts of the 2022 season, and the 96th percentile of all punts since 1999.

and even worse

WSH decided to punt to NYG from the NYG 40 on 4th & 6 with 10:28 remaining in the 2nd while losing 3 to 7.

With a Surrender Index of 38.54, this punt ranks at the 99.4th percentile of cowardly punts of the 2022 season, and the 98th percentile of all punts since 1999.

LOL. That's awesome. I guess it's hard to look at the analytics with your arms folded. I wonder if his headset is even on.

Dingy Boat Ron. 2 96th+ coward punts in 1 game, very impressive.

it really shows he has little confidence in his offense.

I cant blame him with Tiny Taylor at the helm.

What would you have done on 4th and 12 from the 34 w/ Heinicke, wind in your face and a o-line that was not holding up in pass pro? In that situation I'm punting 10 and of 10 times.

The punting discussion makes me curious. I remember coffin corner punts being used often in the past, to try to restrict the return potential. Why is it this isn't done any more? Most punts seem to be aimed centre field now, when attempted around midfield. 🤔

At the 34 I am making a FG attempt. Especially in the 1st quarter and 0-0.

It was an interesting play simply because our gunners overran the punt returner and he didn't make the obvious fair catch signal and instead had a big return for minimal net gain. It was a perfect storm of failure for us - the most desirable outcomes would've been Tress punting it out of bounds inside the 10 or having a touchback for normal field position.

But the odds dictate - Obv Ron or whoever consulted Slye and Slye said kicking a 50+ yarder directly into the wind is a bad idea - somebody just didn't consider a failed 4th down conversion where you gain a few yards is basically the same as a punt. Either way the punt wasn't what killed us. But it was cowardly.
