Apparently Ron said they will consider Wentz if the offense doesn’t improve. This was on ESPN Tonight

EdmundDorf 12-20-2022, 02:30 AM He's an idiot if he thinks it will be different with Wentz in there. He probably would have been sacked 9 times against the Giants. Maybe, not advocating for the change but he would only have had to score 14 points in 4 quarters. Even being sacked and fumbling he is capable of scoring points which clearly Heinicke isn't. Even if you max protect on pass plays our receivers are capable of getting open and catching contested balls and maybe Scott runs the ball a lot more with Wentz in there allowing more play action. But the time to make the change was a couple of weeks ago. If (when) SF shuts this excuse for an offense down Wentz would have one must win game to turn it around or it is Howell time. For the record I don't think any of the QBs we have is going to get us in the playoffs, especially with this OL and Scott Turner running the offence. Ron should have dealt with the offensive play calling, or lack thereof, weeks ago. It has been happening since week 1. irish 12-20-2022, 08:42 AM Maybe, not advocating for the change but he would only have had to score 14 points in 4 quarters. IMO Wentz and TH are basically the same QB with Wentz's big arm being the only difference. If the QB is going to be sacked and fumble it seems better to have one that can actually throw deep down field. In the end Wentz or TH, it wont matter because this team isn't going anywhere. I know you are a big Howell advocate so I'd like your take. My take with Howell is if he isn't being considered to start it is because he hasn't shown he has what it takes in practice. There is a gap either in running the offense or playbook understanding that we are not privy to knowing. The other option is that the coaching staff is stubbornly plugging along with square pegs in round holes. EdmundDorf 12-20-2022, 09:55 AM I know you are a big Howell advocate so I'd like your take. The other option is that the coaching staff is stubbornly plugging along with square pegs in round holes. I wouldn't rule out the latter option. Though it feels like it would be more accurately stated as "square heads in butt holes". Am I sounding disenchanted?..... first bids for the team due Friday apparently. Redskins247 12-20-2022, 09:58 AM Rivera is not going to play Howell in the middle of a playoff run...period. Maybe against SF, which I think they have no chance of winning, they bring in Wentz on some first down plays...let him hand off a few times, and throw it a few times taking some big shots...on first downs SF won't know if they're running or passing, could be a good curveball. They need to pull out all the tricks for this one. If Wentz hits a few big pass plays, could be the difference. Ruhskins 12-20-2022, 10:03 AM I really don't see what TH is doing that is very different from Wentz. He's not using his legs to buy time or to scramble for yards, he's getting sacked a lot, and he's throwing deep passes he can't make. IF we go to Wentz, they need to commit to the run, play the short/intermediate passing game, and take some deep shots once you've established the run. B. Rob was averaging 7 yards per run vs. the Giants and he ran the ball 12 times. That is RIDICULOUS and the coaching staff needs to be accountable for not playing to their strengths. B. Rob needs to have at least 20 runs per game. No QB is going to be successful if this stupid coaching staff doesn't run the ball.
