WCommandersfan99 10-25-2022, 04:24 PM It's a valid concern. Is he going to come back with something to prove personally - and not be a complementary player, or is he going to come back and play within the system and just do his job? Hopefully they will ease him in and give him the opportunity to prove that he will not be a freelancing liability. I am not sure I want him to automatically be given the lion's share of reps at that position. If he's a liability against the run or anything for that matter, I imagine he'll play minimally. He needs to be effective in all components of the position. He should be aware of this, since he's not a rookie anymore.
punch it in 10-25-2022, 04:55 PM NFL Teams have expressed interest in trading for #Commanders DT Daron Payne.

If we aren’t going to sign him long term, jump on this immediately

If this team were 0-7 maybe they would consider it, but they are still in it, and could be .500 by Sunday evening. I just don't see them trading him unless they are blown away with an offer. He's too important to this defense. I doubt they would be willing to roll with Allen, Wise, Ridgeway, Bada at DT.
WJ3 though, I could see them trading him since he's pretty much been benched, but I am not sure what you could get for him, or if he is actually hurt - which would complicate that idea.

+1
A 2nd or a 3rd could be more than we'd get for him as a comp pick when he leaves in the offseason.
Hate to say it but we obviously aren't competing for a title this year, if they don't plan on resigning him time to sell to the highest bidder.

Agreed. Let's not forget we already lost Ioannidis and Settle. I feel like we keep having this notion that we're not going to be able to keep all the talent we have at Dline... but at some point we're still gonna have to pay some guys !
I'd feel more comfortable losing Sweat than Payne at this point. Not a knock on Sweat at all, just that I like our depth at DE more than DT. Even with Obada being a nice surprise.

The 49ers were one of those teams, I would resign him and Sweat, there should be $$$ money after they get rid of Wentz and Jackson. Throw in McCain too.
skinsfan69 10-25-2022, 09:56 PM Wentz and Jackson, smh.... Wentz is the highest paid player and Jackson is possibly #3? Neither will see the field the rest of the year and the team could possibly improve. At least McCain doesn't cost a lot.
SFREDSKIN 10-25-2022, 11:46 PM I guess former Patriot Asante Samuel agrees
