Im a WJ3 ..... defender? enabler?

He hasnt played well. (he admits that)
He said hes a pro and this isnt his first year in the scheme so he has to play better, no excuses

He is a good press man corner ... and we've used him for 2 years now as a soft cover corner.

Should WJ3 be better by now, regardless of what coaches ask of him? Yes

Should JDR have figured this out by now - either through coaching him better at soft man or putting him in better spots? yes

0:05 - WJ3 (bottom of screen, #3) playing off LOS
0:23 - soft off LOS
0:59 - lined up on LOS!! but then backpedals 8 yards off the LOS prior to snap

Watch the games, pause rewind and see where we have him playing pre snap. 80% of the time hes 10 yards off the LOS and has to wait for a receiver to run their route in front of him or run by him.

Hes needs to play better ... but JDR needs to play to his strengths at this point.

JDR needs to scheme and coach

fucking frustrating to watch no adjustments or wrinkles. Only adjustments we made last year re the 3rd long and long LB coverage problem .. was Bostic getting injured and forcing JDR to make a change

What you forgot to mention was the ball first bounced off a wide open guy that he was covering who had already gone for 8 catches, 175 yards and three scores.

Lot's of good posts on here about JDR. Agree with this 100.

I don't think he's in over his head or his defensive style is outdated, I believe the biggest issue is communication and relationships.

I also believe, like others, he won't be fired anytime soon so RR can fire him later to appease the critics.

I'm really curious about what's going on behind the scenes. JDR has been around long enough to know you don't "coach" players in the press. Saying what he did about Davis publicly, burns any relationship down immediately and
permanently.

What's baffling and without explanation is RR backing JDR up the next day and seemingly pushing it further by saying something about Davis not having much time.

Seems extremely dysfunctional.
