Wasn't Wentz injured last year?

He’s better than Taylor folks. Only Winston imo was a better choice but he’s also coming off a big injury… our choices were slim after Wilson

Is he?? IDK about that. Yeah he has a better arm but that is about it.

He was 27 td’s 7 int’s last year. Not alot of yards, but the colts were clearly a run first team.

Cap hit

28M 2022 (6.2 bonus)

26M 2023 (6.1 bonus .. 12.2 dead cap if cut)

27M 2024 (6.1 bonus ... 6.1 dead cap)

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/washington-commanders/cap/2023/

Wouldnt be surprised if the colts eat some of the 2022 bonus money

I feel like we overpaid as the colts are just happy to get rid of his dead money owed if they cut him

So we're getting Wentz and their 2nd rounder as well?

They get our 2nd rounder too. So essentially we move down in the 2nd round.

Barf move.

We got him for cheap. It’s not a bad deal at all.

They won’t draft a QB at 11 now though. I don’t see why they would

Frank Reich giving up on Wentz is a bad sign.
The rumors of him being a headcase are probably true.

I think it's their GM Chris Ballard that gave up him moreso than Reich, Reich has been pretty supportive of him at least publicly.

Reich said this at the combine

“I believe in him,” Reich said last week during the NFL combine. “I stuck my neck out for him. I stuck my neck out for him last year. I was a big part of that decision to get him here, and so I believe he’s going to continue to have a lot of success at quarterback -- that might be here, it might not be here. That decision has yet to be determined, but I still believe in the person, and I still believe in the player.”

I don't like this move, but you can get rid of him next year if things don't work out or the team hits on a rookie. I don't think you can do that with Trubisky, Jameis, or Mariota.

Now, they have their #11 pick and see if a QB falls to them, pick BPA, or trade down/acquire picks for 2023.

I hope they still pick a QB but with that type money they might skip out on drafting a QB and fill out the rest of the roster.
