Tranmission Flush

Yooo...

My new car is getting up there in miles (30,000) and I was wondering if I SHOULD and how often I should get my transmission flushed. I had an Acura Integra and got it flushed at 100k and the car ran like it was brand new. Anyone know of any facts for how often I should do this OR if I should do it at all? I've heard from SOME people that it's just a way for companies to make money off of you...

Check your owner's manual, it should tell you how often to change it in there. Always trust the manufacturer's service recommendations. I usually do my own work, but go to the dealer to buy the fluids (except motor oil) that they recommend for the car.

I've been following the manual for everything fairly well. I just hear from other people about needing to do that

30k is the *usual* service interval for a transmission, but you really should check the manual and see what it recommends.

Cool, thanks. I just hit 30,000. And I've heard that by this "service" it means to drop the pan out and change the transmission filter, NOT flush the transmission.

Definitely follow your manual. Places like Jiffy lube will always try to hit you up for services you don't need.

YES. I had that experience with them once already. I have a good mechanic that I trust to do it.

Don't do like I do and wait until you have about 130,000 miles on the car before you do a transmission flush...LOL!!!
