I hope we do not pursue Rogers pre-madonna. He is good but seriously doubt he would come here. No QB's over 30 is my thought...
How likely is it Ron and the front office will pursue Aaron Rogers?VTSkins1961 01-27-2022, 10:49 PM I hope we do not pursue Rogers pre-madonna. He is good but seriously doubt he would come here. No QB's over 30 is my thought... punch it in 01-28-2022, 07:10 AM I'll concede, maybe it's my memory that's faded because I truly believe the first half of the year our defense was straight ass and we won in spite of them. I definitely remember the lack of pressure our "stud" defensive line was getting though. I remember our coverages getting burnt weekly too. A-Rod ain't gonna fix that. Our defense was straight ass, but somehow we either lost close or were in it late before it got away. AR wouldn’t fix the defense (though he would have kept them off the field ) but he certainly could have scored more points than TH did - changing many of those outcomes. How many times did we settle for 3? I remember countless 3’s that could have been 7’s with better quarterback play. It’s all just hyperbole anyway cus he wasn’t here then and he aint coming here now. Unfortunately. AnonEmouse 01-31-2022, 08:36 AM Right now I'd be putting feelers out about Jimmy G. I know everyone looks at his inability to finish games like last night, but if you look beyond that I think he would be a sound interim 1-2 year starter while we look for 'our guy' in the draft. He can win games. He has playoff experience. He performs well with protection. For me he's the new Alex Smith, as long as we don't hand him the same kind of dumb contract we handed Smith. He may not win a SB for us, but he's a marked improvement on what we have in the QB room. Given the praise he's earned from his team mates and Shanny, he's got to have the leadership skills, and he's got the physical skills TH doesn't have. For now, until we draft a franchise QB, he's better than any projected FA (hell 9ers might even have to cut him to drop that $25M hit) and likely wouldn't be too costly as a trade target (and I certainly wouldn't trade too much away in any case). Competition from other needy teams is the only issue. Interesting market between now and April. skinsfaninok 01-31-2022, 08:58 AM There is no guarantee SF is letting him go.. Is Lance really ready? MTK 01-31-2022, 09:06 AM There is no guarantee SF is letting him go.. Is Lance really ready? They either deal him this offseason while he's still under contact or he's going to walk away after next year for nothing. AnonEmouse 01-31-2022, 09:15 AM There is no guarantee SF is letting him go.. Is Lance really ready? He's got a $25M cap hit they can't really afford and a promising rookie ready in the wings. The only way Lance proves himself is on the field, so I can't see them keeping him riding the pine another 12 months. All the language since the draft has indicated it's Garoppolo's team this season gone, and it's the future moving forward into 22. Shanny was evasive after the loss last night, which says straight away he's not sold on Jimmy G going forward. At this point that means they shop him around. Whether we get him or not (trade capital?), I'd be surprised if he's not in a new uniform by May. |
