Chief X_Phackter 01-27-2022, 05:38 PM This team is definitely in the playoffs in 2021 with AR instead of TH. Does he give the team six more wins? Hard to say, as the defense was abysmal for parts of the season, and COVID/injuries hit at the worst time. He doesn't change those facts.
Either one of those three QBs has this team in the playoffs though, likely every year for a while.

People really seem to forget how absolutely terrible our defense was for the first half of the season. I mean they were absooooooooooooolutely terrible. Like winning games in spite of them terrible. A-Rod isn't gonna fix that.
But at the same time - if you don't have an above-average to elite qb you ain't got shit in this league. A-Rod would solve one piece of the puzzle. I still think we need an elite MLB to help the D too.

And yet we were in so many games that we lost. Some fell apart late like KC, and NO because our D was gassed…why were they gassed? Because our freakin offense couldn’t keep them off the field. AR keeps em off the field, and scores more points.
He needs to make up for 4 points against the Chargers, 7 against Dallas, 7 against Denver, 4 against Philly, etc. It is utter nonsense to say he doesn’t score that many more points than an offense with TH at the helm.
He keeps our defense fresh against KC and NO, and again we score more points. Im sorry but he wins us 6 more games easy and I don’t think it is even a question. Unless, again, you think it is a question about whether he can score 4 more points than Taylor. Or a touchdown here, or there. He does much more than that.
rocnrik 01-27-2022, 07:13 PM No doubt that A-Rod would have led us to a playoff run .. 7 wins with Taylor tells me a lot is right with this team .. A-Rod easy gets 3 more wins !

I feel like the courtesy of time has allowed your memory to fade of how terrible some of those losses were. We were never in it against some of these teams - a pity td at the end here and there made at least a few of those losses seem less terrible. But we were never in those games because the D let it get out of hand early. Only when the games were out of hand did we score pity TD's that made things seem not so bad.

Be specific? We were in the KC game into the fourth quarter and it got away at the end when our D was gassed. We were beating SD in the fourth quarter. Saints game was close with 7 minutes left. Both Philly games were close. First Dallas game we rallied - wasn’t junk scores. Denver came down to the end.
Not sure where my memory is faded?
Other than Buffalo and Dallas -2 there were no other terrible losses Mooby.

We were up by 3 on the Chargers heading into the 4th quarter (lost our starting QB)
We were down by 4 to the Saints heading into the 4th quarter
We were tied with the Broncos heading into the 4th quarter
We were down by 3 to the Eagles just into the 4th quarter in December (Garrett Gilbert)
We were up by 2 on the Eagles heading into the 4th quarter in January
Likely win all five of those games with a better QB. Likely win one or two more on top of that with a guy like AR.

You’re at the same time splitting hairs and missing the point, an impressive accomplishment. You’re sitting here saying we would have been 13-4. I’m saying nah probably not but we would have undoubtedly been better, I’ll give you 11-6 or 10-7, either way who cares it’s a playoff team. Nobody thinks 2021 Aaron Rodgers wouldn’t have made a difference.
And that’s not the point. The point is he will be 39 come next year’s playoffs. We’re not talking about trading for 2021 Rodgers, we’re talking about 2022 Rodgers. Who would make us better…
But for how long?
And when you could try for Russ or Watson, why would you start with Rodgers? Watson carried horrendous Houston teams to 10 wins and playoff berths and he’s in his 20s. Wilson has made up for horrid offensive line play for years now, and he’s 33.
Rodgers gives you 1-2 years and then we’re right back here. Wilson has won just as many SBs. You’re out of your mind if you think a 39 year old is the player to target with a massive trade offer.

I'll concede, maybe it's my memory that's faded because I truly believe the first half of the year our defense was straight ass and we won in spite of them. I definitely remember the lack of pressure our "stud" defensive line was getting though. I remember our coverages getting burnt weekly too. A-Rod ain't gonna fix that.
Chief X_Phackter 01-27-2022, 10:14 PM You're not wrong, I remember the same straight ass defense. However, while the D-line wasn't playing up to the very lofty expectations, in my opinion it was the back 7 that were the culprits. The line was getting pressure, just not sealing the deal with sacks. Either way the defense sucked for the most part.
