I don't know about that. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Washington has the lowest selling merchandise in the NFL which does make some with the franchise care. The Redskins were what? the 4th-6th most valuable team in the world? Probably not anymore and pretty sure that ranking has continued and will continue to decline. Someone in the in the franchise cares and are probably thinking of ways to stop this.

Historically when a team gets a new logo (and a name in this case) the merch sales are tops in the league initially.

I suspect this will be the case here as well. Hell if they count just what I buy I will single handily push them up the rankings :)

Merch sales are part of the revenue sharing pie. And the TV money is the biggest part of the pie by far. Either way, winning cures all.

Personally haven't bought a jersey since I got ST Pro Bowl. Partly because I felt like a jinx (3 years in a row I bought named jerseys and each time the guy was gone the following season). :)

I may get a t-shirt if the new name isn't embarrassing, but I'm holding off on a new jersey until I see some product on the field that feels like its worth it (probably a Scary jersey assuming we don't bungle extending him).

That didn't happen with the WFT gear and my prediction is the new merchandise will remain dead last in sales. I'm not leaving but will only purchase Redskins gear and none of those proceeds go to the team or the NFL.

Doesn’t matter what the name is. Win games and people will support you.

During that 4 game win streak people in Howard County were wearing their B&G everywhere. Havent seen that many Skins fans in while.

Win.

Bottom line is win.

But this team will never win until it lucks itself into a Joe Burrow.

Anybody notice the Lions home game week 18? They won 2 games all year, worse then us and their fans were there and into it. Cheering and rooting for their team.

How do the Lions have that?

Odd

They have a really cool stadium next to casinos, bars, and restaurants.
Great place to get shitfaced and watch a game.

In 2020 the WFT was 6th in revenue generation amongst all teams. Revenue includes sponsorships, partnerships, tix, concessions and merch amongst other categories. https://www.statista.com/statistics/193553/revenue-of-national-football-league-teams-in-2010/

It should be noted the revenue generated by the team has declined significantly since then but still top 10. This despite the tix sales which we know definitively are atrocious.

The Bucs were one of the worst selling teams until two weeks before their Super Bowl. So winning will change things quickly.

I for one will buy merch for the first time in over a decade. Once the name change happened I donated all my redskins merch to a local church clothing pantry (except for my script R knit hat) so I am ready for a wardrobe update.

The WFT was a unique case though. Everyone knew it was a place holder and the merch came out in a trickle. Only diehards bought that stuff IMO

Thats so cool. I was amazed at the Lions crowd. They were beating their rivals but the crowd was having a blast.

Id love something like that. Rent a hotel room, gamble and eat good saturday night, wake up sunday a short walk to the stadium.

Lions fans love their loveable losers.

Skins and their fans .. were losers losers. We do nothing right. How do you fuck up the QB situation as much as we have?

Trade 3 1st round picks for a QB who wins the OROY .. only to have that fall apart.

Have a good QB in Cousins ... only to have Bruce Allen's drunk ass fuck up any notion of normal contract negotiations.

Have an owner who forces the team to draft a QB from his son's high school even though no one in the scouting dept had him as a 1st rounder ..

Then pay a 40 year old journeyman 10M to break a god damn hip 1 quarter into week 1

We literally have the worst QB depth chart in the league. Not even close.

-----------------

Lions have new stadium complex and no. 2 overall pick

Skins have no stadium deal in sight, an entrenched asshole owner and the no. 11 pick

Weren't we winning in Smith's first year here before he broke his leg? First place in the division and the stadium was half full w/ the other teams fans. So winning does not cure all, especially when you are dealing w/ what has gone on here since Snyder ownership.

The only thing that is going to really bring the fans back is marketable core players which would include a QB. Superstar type of players. We really don't have any. A re-brand isn't going to bring anyone back, if anything this re-brand is turning off what core fans you have left.

Fans are not coming back cause you do a re-brand.
