I’m surprised that small people don’t protest the NY giants ..😳

Or vegans, the Packers!

I am late to this thread, but many of the posts in the previous threads echo my personal opinion.

If the name does end up being the Commanders, even with or without the ridiculous seal / logo that may have been "leaked", then I am likely through with my fandom regarding this organization.

I had lots, lots of great times as a Skins fan, but unfortunately looking back it seems I had more bad times than good times. Please keep in mind, I am young-ish (37 years old), so was never really "around" to see this Franchise with a good owner and during "good times".

That is a shame. Most speak of the obvious greatness of the Gibbs era and for good reason. I am old enough to have watched the entire George Allen era which, while not nearly good as Gibbs', was pretty damn good in its own right.

Even Pardee, the coach between Allen and Gibbs, went .500, Better than nearly all of Snyder's coaches. In reality, 1971 to 1992 was a golden era.

Then the trifecta of doom arrived. Gibbs retired, we left RFK, and then Cooke died. Except for a few fleeting moments of joy here and there, it has been horrid.

I had Danny's number after the Marty/Jeff George debacles. But I hung on because it was still the Redskins.

Now even that is just about gone. :embarrass

I was born in 1969. My Dad was a huge Skins fan, and gave me and my brothers two choices growing up. Be a Skins fan, or, don't watch football. It was an easy choice. Growing up in Louisville meant that when the Skins were actually ON TV, they were special days. It also meant ALWAYS getting Dallas games. Which may be why my hate of the Cowboys is as strong as my love of the Redskins.

I vaguely remember the Kilmer-Theisman QB battle as my earliest Skins memory.

But the Joe Gibbs era was when the hook was set in me. What a glorious decade plus 1.

Man ... that was 30 freakin' years ago.

Maybe it's time to call it. Just stick to fantasy football, and hating the Cowboys.

With the performance over the past 30 years the franchise had been bleeding fans like a vein had been open, but since the name change it's as if they opened up both the carotid and femoral arteries. Wouldn't surprise me at all if the fan base is now down over 70-80%.

You probably aren't too far off with this estimate. Almost everyone I know who were hard core fans 20 years ago either don't care anymore or only casually watch. I know zero kids who are WFT fans. The name change isn't as big a deal to them as Snyder being the owner is. As long as he's the owner they say they wont ever go back. Now that they have found other things to do Sunday afternoons instead of watching WFT games I am sure it will take a lot to have a chance at bringing them back.

I still remember watching Super Bowl VII with the family. I was crushed that we lost. I remember Sonny rupturing his Achilles. I remember the I like Sonny/I like Billy bumper stickers.

In 2nd grade, our school day included "Centers" which was kind of crafts mixed with regular learning (it was still the Hippie era). We had a sewing center and all of us guys made Redskins pillows shaped like helmets.

Larry Brown, Roy Jefferson, Jerry Smith, Chris Hanburger. The arrival of Theismann and Riggins. The hiring of Joe Gibbs and so on.

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die."

I watched that raiders game last night .. I realized I’m more of a fan of football in general than any one disfunctional team .. I am finding myself pulling for coaches and players .. other than Washington/Va I have no Ties to any city .. I can’t stand cowboys,giants,Eagles.. and was stoked when raiders moved to Vegas!

Las Vegas is a natural home for the Raiders. It is the only example of a franchise moving I can think of that I think most people are ok with, while other moves (Chargers from San Diego for example) are looked down on.

And that stadium is sweet. Better than the Rams/Chargers (although that is nice). Better than Jerry's world. Better than the Falcons. The only other "new" stadium that I think compares is the Vikings.
